Moonkiss Festival
The Moonkiss Festival, also known as Lover's Day, is the only day in the year in which the two moons of Aelburn; Sebos and Bualia, are in the same phase at the same time. During this holiday many Zaidan's will gather with their loved ones and many young couples will profess their love to one another. Though the holiday usually has romantic connotations, it is also common to spend the day with friends as a celebration of platonic love.
Though the specific traditions vary amongst across the continent, it is common to have a dance under the moonlight followed by a kiss when the moons reach their zenith in the sky. Many youths may find themselves rejected at this stage of the celebrations as their partners may decline the kiss and playfully run away into the night, vowing that a kiss may be given next year.
The festival's origins are closely tied to the legend of Sebos and Bualia. It is said that they were cursed to be apart and would only meet once a year. If folklore is to be believed, the warmth of their love chases away the cold of winter.
