Government
Myr is a monarchy, ruled over by a single King and Queen. The current King of Myr, Colton Rathmore, is a tyrant who enjoys creating strange, esoteric laws and then prosecuting people and punishing them severely for breaking them for entertainment. There are several groups that oppose this rule, including the Red Ravens and the Sorcerer's Cabal. The Cabal does not interfere in the politics of Myr, but they do not permit the King's soldiers anywhere near their towers and has stationed court wizards throughout the continent to spy on the King and report all of his strange laws to them immediately.
The royal family of Myr is sustained through inbreeding. Most of the citizens of Myr find this disgusting, but do not challenge it.
Magical studies are forbidden in Myr, and Colton Rathmore suppresses magical knowledge in his empire.
Though the rest of Aellorah uses a standard currency, Colton Rathmore forbids the usage of the common currency in his empire, and will arrest those caught trying to use it. There is a separate currency used in Myr, and merchants of other lands will pay good money for it, as it is difficult to obtain if you are not a citizen of the Rathmore empire. However, Colton keeps wizards in his court so that he will always hold an advantage over his subjects. Wizards are hunted by Colton's guard. The Sorcerer's Cabal on Myr exists outside his empire's territory and provides sanctuary to young prospective wizards looking to learn. Colton is aware of this and regularly clashes with the Cabal.

Technology
Myr is similarly developed to a medieval civilization with dark gothic architecture. Their weaponry is more advanced and more formidable than any other civilization in Aellorah, with the exception of the Dwarves of Reshyk.
Due to the unusually high level of spirit activity in Myr, many dwellings on the continent have many windows so that there will be no dark places for spirits to hide during the day. Architecture in Myr tends to be relatively simple so that the light can easily reach all corners of a home, and homes are rarely more than one story so that tall homes won't block the sun for smaller homes.
