The Aura
Description
The Aura is the fundamental force that gives life to the universe. It is a sentient force, almost like a god. Without the Aura, everything would cease to exist, even the gods. The Aura created the gods, and by extension, the gods are the essence of the Aura. The force of magic in the universe is referred to as The Aura, and it refers to how magic flows all around the world, like a whirlpool. Those that manipulate magic must learn to feel the Flow and manipulate it.
History
The Aura has always existed, but before the universe was created, there was a vast nothingness known as the Void. The Aura created the god Emir, and the Void was his domain. Then, the Aura created the Seven Sisters, who brought creation with them. They created the universe, banishing the Void, which enraged Emir.
The Aura permeates the universe, but on Aellorah, the Wellsprings serve as focal points of the Aura, chaotic and unpredictable.

Sources
The universe in which Aellorah exists contains Arcane and Divine magics. These are the source of power for Wizards, Sorcerers, Warlocks, Clerics, Druids, and so on. The Wellsprings on Aellorah serve as focal points of magic, which can be chaotic and unpredictable. However, some of the Wellsprings can amplify the power of magic-users and allow them to cast much more powerful spells.
Quirks
Here are some of the quirks of magic in the world of Aellorah not seen in other settings involving magic.
- Resurrection magic exists, but the gods do not grant mortals the ability to wield it, as the goddess Estrea considers death final, and does not allow souls to return from the afterlife. Attempting to resurrect the dead will invoke the wrath of Estrea. This does not apply to spells such as Revivify, as during the period in which this spell is able to be used, mortals are not yet considered dead, and are instead "at death's door".
- Reanimation (ie: zombies) is not seen in the same way. The dead are dead and using their bodies for a righteous cause is not sacrilege to Estrea. However, reanimating the dead for evil purposes will similarly anger Estrea and Lys alike. In Aelloran culture, although the bodies of the deceased are treated with respect, it is not seen as an affront to reanimate the dead. Some cultures even choose to hire necromancers to animate the bodies of their ancestors to perform labor.
- There is no psionic magic in Aellorah. Only arcane and divine magics (Druidic magic is considered divine).
