Annabelle Acropora

Annabelle Acropora (a.k.a. Bonnie Red Belle, Queen Annie, The Devil)

Once a noble Dryad, Annabelle Acropora lived a peaceful life on a tranquil island, a paradise of lush forests and clear waters. But her world was shattered when her island was consumed by the sea, leaving her people lost and her home in ruins. In her darkest hour, she sought the aid of Kalaaros, the capricious god of the seas, and struck a pact that would forever change her destiny.   Bound by her pact with Kalaaros, Annabelle underwent a transformation that made her something more—and something less—than mortal. She became Queen Annie, a spectral figure feared and revered across the lands and seas of Aelluros. Her new form was as elusive as the misty veil that shrouds her ship, the Cruel Blaggard, a living entity crafted from coral that breathes and heals.   Witnesses who claim to have seen Queen Annie describe her as a hauntingly beautiful woman with hair made of red kelp that flows and undulates as if underwater. Her eyes are said to be the color of the deepest ocean abyss, and her skin adorned with scales that shimmer like mother-of-pearl. Her voice, when heard, is like the siren's call—mesmerizing but filled with an undertone of menace, as if the sea itself is whispering through her.   Queen Annie captains the Dread Crew, a spectral crew of Dryads who have suffered similar fates. Together, they sail the Cruel Blaggard through the mists, appearing and disappearing like wisps of fog. Their mission is as mysterious as it is terrifying: to collect lost souls and guide them to their final resting place in the depths of the ocean, a watery realm under Kalaaros's dominion.   Queen Annie and her Dread Crew have become the stuff of legends, haunting tales whispered in hushed tones in the shadowy corners of coastal taverns. Sailors speak of eerie melodies drifting over the water, a haunting tune that seems to come from the ship itself. They talk of the sky darkening and the sea turning restless when the Dread Crew is near. And they share tales of ships found drifting, empty and lifeless, as if the very essence of their crews had been drained.   To speak of Queen Annie and her Dread Crew is to invite their attention, so the tale is often accompanied by rituals to ward off bad luck. It's a story that chills the bones of even the most seasoned sailors, a ghostly legend that lingers long after it's told, as elusive and haunting as the mist that shrouds the Cruel Blaggard.
