Shielnass

Shielnass is located in the region of Myrelis, known for its harsh climate and rugged terrain. It is a maximum-security prison that houses only the most dangerous and notorious criminals. Perched on a steep, rocky island in the center of Lake Ginbac, escape from Shielnass is nigh impossible by mundane means. Even magical escapes are made extremely difficult by the constant watchful eyes of several skilled wizards.   The prison's name, "Shielnass," is derived from the native Visarian words "ṣǔl" meaning prison, and "núěs" meaning island. The name has become synonymous with terror and despair among the people of Myrelis, as few who enter its walls ever leave.   The island itself is a forbidding sight, with sheer cliffs rising up from the dark waters of Lake Ginbac. The only way to reach the prison is by boat, and even then, the journey is treacherous. The waters around the island are known for their strong currents and violent storms, which have claimed the lives of many would-be escapees over the years.   Inside Shielnass, the inmates are kept in near-constant lockdown, with minimal interaction with each other or the outside world. The guards are highly trained and vigilant, constantly on the lookout for any signs of trouble. The prison's most dangerous inmates are kept in individual cells with reinforced walls and magical wards to prevent any attempts at escape.   Despite its reputation as a place of darkness and despair, Shielnass serves a vital function in Myrelis. Its existence is a deterrent to would-be criminals, and the threat of being sent to the prison is often enough to keep many from committing serious crimes. And for those who do end up behind its walls, the knowledge that they are cut off from the outside world and held in the tight grip of the prison's guards serves as a warning to others that crime does not pay in Myrelis.
