The Headless Horseman

(a.k.a. Harbinger of Myemis)

The Headless Horseman: Harbinger of Myemis

The Headless Horseman, a spectral entity of chaos and malevolence, is said to be the harbinger of Myemis, the Lord of the Damned. Cloaked in shadows and mystery, the Horseman is a relentless pursuer of souls, a collector of the damned destined to serve Myemis in the afterlife.   Origin: Legend has it that the Headless Horseman was once a noble knight, a protector of the realms of the living. However, a tragic betrayal led to his beheading, and his soul, filled with rage and a thirst for vengeance, was claimed by Myemis. The Lord of the Damned, seeing the potential in this tormented soul, forged him into his harbinger, granting him powers beyond the grasp of mortals and the undead.   Role: The Headless Horseman roams the lands, especially during the nights of the waning moon, seeking those who have pledged their souls to Myemis or those whose actions have earned the ire of the Lord of the Damned. He is the forerunner of doom, and his appearance is considered an omen of impending death and undeath. His ethereal chains bind the souls of the damned, dragging them into the dark abyss of Deddeagoth, where they are to serve Myemis for all eternity.   Abilities: The Horseman wields the power of necrotic energy and ethereal fire, granted by Myemis himself. He can summon spectres and bind souls with phantom chains, and he can conjure unholy infernos to engulf his foes in spectral flames. His presence alone is enough to instill fear and despair in the hearts of mortals.   Worship and Followers: While the Headless Horseman is not directly worshipped, many followers of Myemis revere him as the embodiment of their lord's will. Secret cults and societies dedicated to Myemis conduct dark   Enigma and Fear: The Headless Horseman remains an enigmatic and feared figure in the world of Aelluros. His sudden appearances and relentless pursuit of his targets have given rise to countless tales and legends. Many speculate about his true intentions and whether he retains any remnants of his former self, but one thing is certain: crossing paths with the Headless Horseman is a fate many consider worse than death itself.

Sir Alaric the Valiant: The Knight Before the Horseman

Before becoming the spectral harbinger of Myemis, the Headless Horseman was known as Sir Alaric the Valiant, a knight renowned for his courage, honor, and unwavering dedication to protecting the realms of the living. He was a figure of hope and a beacon of light in a world shadowed by the malevolent forces of the undead.   Noble Origins: Sir Alaric hailed from a noble lineage, born into a family that had sworn to guard the realms against the forces of darkness. He was trained in the arts of war and chivalry from a young age, showing exceptional prowess in combat and a deep understanding of the virtues of knighthood.   Protector of the Realm: Alaric earned his title "the Valiant" through countless battles against the minions of the undead, defending the innocent and upholding justice. His name became synonymous with hope, and tales of his valor spread across the lands. He was a relentless foe of the dark arts and sought to rid the world of necromancers and their unholy creations.   Betrayal and Transformation: However, the very people he swore to protect betrayed Sir Alaric. Envious of his rising fame and influence, a faction of corrupt nobles conspired against him, leading to his capture and eventual beheading. His death was a spectacle, a public execution meant to tarnish his legacy. But his soul, fueled by a newfound rage and desire for vengeance, refused to pass on to the afterlife.   It was at this moment of anguish and torment that Myemis, the Lord of the Damned, reached out to the disembodied soul of Alaric. Sensing the immense power and relentless will within Alaric, Myemis offered him a chance to return to the world of the living as his harbinger. Alaric, consumed by his desire for vengeance and bound by his eternal enmity towards the undead, accepted the dark pact, becoming the Headless Horseman.   Legacy and Remembrance: The transformation of Sir Alaric into the Headless Horseman is a tale of tragedy and warning. It serves as a grim reminder of the consequences of betrayal and the relentless pursuit of power and influence. While many remember Sir Alaric for his valor and sacrifice, his spectral form, the Headless Horseman, is a symbol of fear and doom, a relentless pursuer of souls for the Lord of the Damned.   Some still hope that remnants of Sir Alaric's noble spirit linger within the Headless Horseman, and that one day, he might find redemption and peace, freeing himself from the chains of Myemis and resting eternally as the noble knight he once was.
