Doren Denrae
Alderman of the Dorenil, Captain of Ostbled and Keeper of the East Doren Deorthiling Dorenil (a.k.a. Dendrae (The Faithful)
The last captain of the Dorenil defended the most eastern holdings of men from the onslaught of the giant king Edgir. Doren held the giants at bay for five years, buying time for the western men to rally to the cause of King Ellan of the Tirdôla. In a final, suicidal charge against a vastly superior opponent, Doren slew giants, had his arm severed, and continued fighting. Before long he died and was mounted on a war banner among the giant army, carried into battle against mankind.

Personal history
The eldest child of Alderman Deorthil Dorenil, Doren was, like those before him, raised as a warrior and leader of men. During his childhood, Doren was taught fighting, and leading, and told great tales of his forefathers and kin in their long war with the giants east of the river Adwine. Doren's people had come to these eastern lands after the end of the War of the Jewel when his ancestor, Doren Deorel, established the march of the east at Ostbled.
The Dorenil clan were descended from the legendary prince Cerelian, grandson of the Huldra king Galerain. Doren Deorel, this Doren's ancestor, means Doren the Brave, as he was called by his people. Doren built the fortress of Ostbled and fended off giant attacks for the remainder of his life. The kin of Doren were thus known as the Dorenil and had guarded the eastern lands of Mórgyr ever since. Ostbled was built on the eastern shore of the river Adwine, what is now known as the Rhor river, and gave a great deal of defense from attack as well as a well-positioned rally point for the villages of the Ceorel, the common people who followed the Dorenil east. The Ceorel descended from various peoples, refugees of the Géadine, Aeiota mercenaries, and later, the scattered men of Rielar.
Doren himself was brought along with his father numerous times into the heart of the realm of the giants and by the time he was seven, he supposedly had slain ten giants himself. During the time of Deorthil however, the giants began rallying around the giant king Edgir. Edgir had beaten back and killed Deorthil whose body only just managed to make it back to Ostbled with the remnants of his men. Doren saw to the burial of his father and took up the mantle of Captain of Ostbled. Facing insurmountable odds, Doren made the fateful decision to remain in Ostbled and lead resistance with the remaining Ceorel he had gathered and began mustering these recruits. When the giant king arrived, he led a host of around 20,000 giants while Doren seems to have only been able to lead a force of around a thousand.
Clad in arms and armor, Doren led a stout defense of his family's ancestral fortress for the next five years. Doren's defense of Ostbled was truly an inspiring sight as with his boar helm glistening atop the walls, Doren struck fear in the hearts of the overconfident giants who were routinely beaten back away from the walls. The captain of Ostbled led sorties out to harass the giants and sow discord in their ranks but these attacks were costly and proved to only delay the inevitable. Whether they be starved out or killed when the giants assaulted the fortress, Doren knew the time of his people was spent and so under the cover of darkness, he ordered the women, children, old and sick away to the west. Left only with the warriors of his people, Doren marched out with his men, intending to die in the field of battle. Doren amassed his men and gave a speech before ordering messengers to go west and warn the realms of men about the return of the giants.
In the aftermath of the battle, Doren's body was made an example of by the giants who hung it by the neck atop a banner for all to see. Then the giants of Edgir, overcome with rage at the defiance of the Ceorel, crumbled the walls of Ostbled and left it in ruin. They marched west but due to the delay, the giants now found the Géadine alliance of centuries prior reforged under the young Ellan of the Tirdôla. The fighting was hard and brutal but with their combined arms, the alliance of men defeated Edgir at the Battle of Mallaurn. Victorious, the Géadine continued on, pressing the fighting against the beleaguered giants as they attacked and won a series of wars. Ellan however, near the end of his life, was ambushed and killed at the Battle of Vithrum.
Nevertheless, the cause of Doren, the cause of Ellan, and all the Géadine continued on in the legacy left behind by the sacrifice of the Dorenil. In centuries to come, men rallied around leaders descending from the line of Doren, and finally, the giants were defeated for good at the Battle of Hautkrig which ended the Dawn Age. Centuries after their noble final stand, the remains of the Ceroel of Ostbled were recovered and the bones of Doren were finally put to rest, with his tomb bearing the inscription,

"Ride now men of the east, for now has come the day of the sword, the day of running red blood, the day when the might of the Ceorel, of the Sureno of old, be challenged and answered in one voice and with many blades. Ride now, ride to death, to ruin, and death again for glory and fame for all the nations of the Géadine shall rally banners behind you!!"Initially successful due to the shock of the charge, the men of Ostbled were cut down when the giants repelled them. Doren himself was said to have slain nearly twenty giants before his left arm was severed. Not deterred, Doren continued fighting and slew another twenty giants with his single arm before dying in the melee. So fell Doren, the last Dorenil captain of Ostbled.
