Magian
Magic users and academics capable of tapping into residual magic and performing tasks considered otherworldly.
Career
Qualifications
A hurdle to many Magians is that one has to have a certain degree of magical capability to properly conduct business as one. Those without a grasp of how to reach out, grab and pull at magical essence can often find themselves overmatched by the cosmic power of the magical well they are drawing from. This makes training and mental preparation very important for those in more dangerous fields of magic.
Payment & Reimbursement
Magians are infamous for their demands of payment, whether it be the fire breathers on street corners or brash wizards with a monster head on a hook, Magians often demand sums of coin for their work.
Other Benefits
Despite the general consensus of Magians as untrustworthy and unpredictable rogues, some do manage to shed this stigma and reap fame and fortune due to their abilities. Notable examples of this have come in more recent times in the case of Lucien Robillard whose fame as a seemingly lowly Agronomist, potionist, alchemist, and general academic has earned him great renown and respect in the eyes of many familiar with his work.
Perception
Purpose
Magians are a wide umbrella of occupations with the general purpose of them being solvers of more supernatural or academic problems and issues in the world. If a problem cannot be solved by conventional means, often a Magian with specialties in the aforementioned issue will be contacted and paid with the expectation of solving it.
Social Status
The perception of most Magians comes mainly from tales of rogue and hot-tempered Wizards who burn down entire villages after being paid less than they want. This has led to a general stigma of Magians being unpredictable, stingy, and untrustworthy people who are best kept on the outskirts of society.
History
Magic as it is known has had its influence ebb and flow in the natural world. In times of chaos, it has been known to make its presence known mightily while during times of peace, stability, and lawfulness it has been confined to the fringes of the world. In the far distant past, magic was said to be widely known in the world with known sciences and arcane arts practiced openly and freely. Then the era of the emergence of the kingdoms of man came and magic found itself ushered outside of the perceived world and knowledge of it was muddled into stories and fables. Magic was so rarely encountered and so became foreign and strange to the average person. Come the time of the Rasennans and magic was thought extinct, a relic of a more superstitious past, replaced by religion and science.
When the Rasenna fell, magic leaked from the cracked burrows of the world and exploded outward in the chaotic decades and centuries of the Dykairos. Magic was known once more but its foreignness did not die and though those who used it often did so with good intentions, they were pariahs and outcasts. Now magic can be readily found, on street corners, prophesizers can see vague futures and charge only a few coins for it, agronomists can judge crop yields and make adjustments to soil qualities and wizards can combat the evils of the dark and windy forest.

Operations
Tools
Oftentimes, wizards and other spell-based Magians imbue some magical anchors into common branches and carry them around as walking sticks. These magic staffs are a sort of magical crutch used to take pressure off of a magic user when they cast spells.
Materials
Certain materials have been found to have magical properties inherent to them. An often-cited example of magic material is silver, commonly used in the case of monster hunting as most supernatural beings are vulnerable to it. Other materials are natural plants like Wolfsbane, used to ward off and poison wolves and other canine-like creatures. An elaborate material sometimes used is Hyacinthe, a plant that can be easily enchanted to trap a soul inside it.
Provided Services
The main attraction for professional Magians is their ability to tackle the more supernatural and otherworldly elements of the world. Alchemists are tasked with the creation of new materials and the improvement and implementation of their work on a larger scale.
Often neglected are the more academic and studious Magians, these are typically the agronomists, the botanists and the potionists. These Magians conduct experiments through trial and error in order to improve on aspects of more common day problems like crop failures, rampant plagues, and common ailments cured through the development of specified potions.
Wizards are a famous bunch, fiery and eccentric almost by default, they are often feared due to their powerful and offensive spells which can range from simple fire casting to more elaborate spells like in the case of the Vella. Wizards are among the more despised branches of Magians as their benefit of driving off monsters and the accursed also come with their often large demands of payment and violent temperments.

Dangers & Hazards
Depending on the specialties of a Magian different hazards can arise due to the differing levels of danger inherent in these specialties. A Magian specializing in alchemy, for example, experiences far less dangerous work than one who professional hunts and kills monster infestations.
