All armies run on the acts of commanders, commanders position men where they will best be effective and trust that training and discipline will win out. Commanders like Durad Tovkar are rare, for him, war is an artform, a struggle between men with the better looking to come out on top. Durad is a towering figure, seemingly as tall as he is wide and with a fiery and standoffish attitude that would make one initially see him as nothing more than a bloodthirsty brute. Underneath the mountainous persona is a motivated man with a deep appreciation for the finer details of his craft as Durad is always precise and accurate in what he says or does. This does nothing to take away from how he is as a person, sometimes bull-headed and intensely proud, to be his commander is a test of patience, to be under him is to try his own. Under Durad, the Sciana of the Black Army has grown into the centerpiece of a force that has become notorious for steamrolling its opposition, the Black Army are the conquerors of nations and Durad's unit is a deeply involved force of that process. Another veteran of the Sokoly War of Freedom, Durad was once a cavalry officer under Marshal Kazimier Maurek before being posted in the infantry as a front line commander and drill sergeant. Durad became notorious among newly enlisted men for his booming rants and awe-inspiring presence, for his men of the Sciana worship the ground he walks on. This presence in the ranks has caused a fair bit of friction between Durad and his commander, Field Marshal Jarząbek who's age has always been a sticking point for Durad who envies his position and is always seeking to undermine him. Only one person it seems can fully control Durad and luckily it is the Kraul who Durad has grown to only take orders from, much to the annoyment of Grand Marshal Jarząbek. Both men seem to have the Kraul's ear on affairs of war and each is seeking total command of the Black Army, Jarząbek to secure it in total and Durad to wrestle control of it from under Jarząbek's nose.
