A pillar of chivalric virtue, Victor Therasius is a glamorous figure and particularly a capturer of the hearts of passersby and those of the court. He sits on the throne of his ward in the manner of someone who was born for it.

A wearer of the fine silks and cloth of the east, Therasius has an appreciation for the finer things he has now been afforded due to his standing as the most powerful man in the realm.

Personal history

Few men have the moral good in them to avoid conflict at all costs even if one stands to benefit the most from it. Few men in the world are as righteous as the man atop the throne in the princely palace of Komneia, one Victor Therasius the Younger. Son of a man with a similar reputation for almost fable-like chivalry, a young Victor would know nothing but a military education serving directly under his father in defense of their state against enemies it faced on all sides. Tales of Therasius' deeds in service to his land begin when he was named military ambassador of the Principality. Victor would travel great distances and fight in the service of dozens of monarchs and rulers across the world in order to forge ties with these realms and that of his home of Komneia.

Therasius would gain his moniker of "Aetos" or the Eagle in part due to his travels and in part due to his victory in a duel against Cthene Barskonda, an eastern marauder who terrorized the countryside surrounding the city of Messra. Cthene had heard of the foreigner in the employ of his enemy and challenged him to a ritual duel in the sands to which Therasius accepted. This duel would capture the hearts of Therasius' entourage as it looked like something out of the epics of Aleus or Gordian. Therasius and his foe hurled spears at each other and then fought brutally with their swords. Initially, Therasius was wounded, as Cthene thrust his sword into the foreigner's thigh but in return, Therasius wounded his opponent twice, in the thigh and then in the neck. The sight of Cthene having to be dragged back to his line by his panicking retinue rallied the defenders who raised the bloodied Therasius on their shields in the manner of a conquering general of the Rasenna and hailed him as "Aetos", Aetos ir Kominenē, The Eagle of Komneia. After this show of skill and courage worthy of a Mykran ballad, Therasius returned to his homeland with the gifts and riches of dozens of lands and with their goodwill towards "Yenisirochi Midiri" or The Land of the Eagles.

Now came the trappings of statecraft as during his travels, the Prince of Komenia, Theophanes Maniakes had fallen ill and died upon Therasius' return leaving the state in the hands of his five-year-old daughter Marcella Maniakes whom the ruling council would put under the protection of the returning Therasius. Therasius' guardianship of the princess was made in the understanding that after so much time away, he was unfamiliar with the scheming of court officials and as such would more easily protect his new ward. Heaps of acclaim were put on Therasius, he was named Autokrapator or "Father of the Autokrator", in this case, referring to Marcella Lukarenos, the daughter of the former Prince Demetrius Lukarenos. In addition to his new title, Therasius was also appointed regent for Marcella as well as named her godfather.

Social Aptitude

While one who seems initially reserved and unwilling to reserve himself for a moment, Therasius is simply a man devoted to his duty and can come across as simplistic and prone to tunnel vision. He is not the easiest to converse with as he places great reverence to etiquette and formality, never giving one a peek behind the curtain he places in front of himself at all times. One could call him paranoid, but Therasius is aware of the dangers one in his position is faced with and seems to be taking no chances.

Speech

Refined to perfection, Therasius embodies the well-traveled and hardy military man who he is at his core, while maintaining the illusion of his higher standing and almost regal aura.
