In the far north, the lands now known as Iola were home to the Rókuri. In myth, the Rókuri King Markinen died in battle against the migrating Siones who were said to have been led by Hunaz, the founder of all later Iolan jarldoms. The two hundred years of war between the two peoples culminated in the Siones driving the Rókuri north into the lands of Drauheim where they dwell to this day.

The Siones or "People of the Ships" were a mainland people with a seafaring heritage that had been trading and raiding the northern lands of Kolmerma for some time before increasingly settling in the peninsula's south. It was here that conflict between the two peoples came and where allegedly, the Rókuri King Markinen would fall in battle at Fytjar which would allow the Sione king Hunaz to successfully land at the bay of Vik and eventually for his successors to drive the Rókuri all the way north into Drauheim in two hundred years. The Siones eventually became known as the Iolans and Kolmerma was increasingly known as Iola, after them. The Rókuri, the native inhabitants of Kolmerma, would hold their ground in the north and develop into a distinct people with only slight influences from their southern rivals. Eventually, the Iolans would make themselves known on the world stage for their vast global connections via their trade and raid system while the Rókuri grew ever more insulated and isolated from the wider world.
