Dragon Riders of the Alzram Empire
The Dragon Riders were created when Bahamut created an alliance between the Dragonborn and Dragons. Twelve Dragon eggs would be given to the Dragonborn for safekeeping and be enchanted by Bahamut. These eggs would then choose young riders of none Dragonborn origin to be bonded and trained with them. These riders would serve Aerios as guardians of Purpose and uphold the laws given by the Six.
Riders and their Dragons work and learn together how to fulfill their oath because mortals mature faster than dragons Riders tend to be the leader of the two and the young dragons tend to reflect their Riders.
When a rider or dragon dies, a new pair is chosen, the young children of Alzram, (about the age of 3) are brought to the Tower of the Dragons. Each child is allowed into the Nest hall one at a time for about an hour, if an egg breaks open while the child is within that child and dragon are the new Riders. The two are then raised together and trained by the Dragonborn until the Rider reaches the age of maturity. The two are then tested by the other Riders and only after finishing the tests the two are welcomed into the Dragon Rider circles, if they fail they must try the trials again.
There are only 12 Riders at a time and tradition has given rulership to the most senior of all the Riders.
