Mystra
Mystra is the goddess of magic. Such an explanation is all one truly needs of the Lady of Mysteries for she has little motivation or teaching outside of this. Mystra does not desire to tell mortals how to live their lives or what to do with their gifts, for there are other and better deities to do so. If there is one thing she teaches and guides mortals in doing, it is learning and wielding magic. As long as one follows the rules she has put forth, Mystra does not really care what a mortal does with it, so long as they do not prevent others from learning that same magic, for no mortal can have a hold on any magical learning or abilities (though they are not required to teach it either).
This is the main reason Mystra can be difficult to understand and tends to be less thought of out of all the other deities, for she has little to do with anyone who does not use magic.

Tenets of Faith
Mystra does not claim one people or race as her own, her people are those who wield magic. Her tenets, therefore, are the laws of magic.
- Spells may only be cast up to 9th level.
- Magic is for all and all have a chance to learn it.
- Balance must be maintained and all magic has its opposite.
- The Weave only ever moves forward, to attempt to turn it backward is heresy.
- Magic is unknown, to question and create, is to gain understanding.
Holidays
The Ceremony of the Chosen
Once a year the Council of Magi gather all the children of the age of 12 and test their magical aptitude. Those who are found to have magical talent are offered a place in one of Mystra's magical academies where they are taught how to use their gifts. While the invitation is optional, most do not refuse as it means being raised in social status, being taught in the art of magic, and a higher level of education than most people have access to. There is no restriction in acceptance other than age. The Ceremony of the Chosen allows for an equal opportunity for people of all social levels to learn magic. Older adults can join these academies and colleges later in life, although it is often more difficult as, in addition to aptitude, the applicant also must provide a significant gift to the school to which they apply.
The Inventions Market
Every fifth year, in the middle of summer, the highest academy of the Council of Magi (and the place where the Council is housed) hosts an event known as the Inventions Market. Here all the inventors of the world, both magical and mundane, are invited to bring and show their inventions off to the world and the Council. Many lives are changed by the selling of these inventions or the skill of the inventor, and there is much wealth to be gained and spent. It is not uncommon for kingdoms to send representatives to try to attain the best inventions or inventors for themselves. This alone has made Mystra much more highly favored among Gnomes as they credit her for inspiration.

Divine Goals & Aspirations
Mystra has no goal outside of maintaining the Weave of magic and fate. While she delights in mortals who learn and wish to use magic, she takes no special interest in how they use it unless it violates one of her laws.
