The Gift

The Gift is told to have been given to the humans many generations ago, the spirits giving certain people and some of their descendants what they called "The Gift". It involved giving the humans animal traits from the animal the spirit looks like. It could manifest in just cat-like ears to a sort of anthropological feline, for example. Depending on the strength of the gift, the different traits would show, with more towards the animal for stronger gifts. Naturally, these traits gave these people an advantage. Be it sensory, physical, and at times even mental advantages.
