The Great Raid
Summary
The Great Raid was a raid done in 504, led by Siv, the wolf spirit himself, with a lot of the strongest warriors his Domain could muster. The raid consisted of a siege on the northern coasts of Torrin's Domain, with a fleet of 25 longships. It caused a reported fatalities of around 585 people, most of them part of Torrin's Domain. After they took what they could and salied away, Torrin began immediate work on the wall to his city. The Build-Up
Siv had been building up bitterness at the fact he was given the smallest, coldest, and less vegetated bit of land, the northeastern island of Siv's Domain. He was angry at Torrin for giving him the worst piece of land, and to prove his superiority, he raided Torrin's Domain without any mercy. He gathered all the warriors he could muster and set sail. The trip there took weeks. They even had to stop along the western coasts of Ari's Domain, just to get some more food and resupply with the wilderness, before setting sail again. They arrived at the northern coasts of the domain, where they camped for about a week, resupplying and gathering strength one last time before the raid. The Raid
The raid itself consisted of a siege on the north side of Torrin's Domain, specifically the city, Torrin's Roost. While Torrin was no fool, and did have a military, his focus on knowledge and technology's progression made his warriors incredibly weak compared to the battle hardened raiders. They lost overwhelmingly, losing an immense amount of wealth and resources in the raid. Many humans and gifted alike gave their lives to protect their loved ones, to little to no effect. Siv's sheer power easily dominated the battlefield. Finally, with axes, shields, hammers, and even claws and teeth bloody, the raiders took what they could fit in the ships and sailed away, leaving the wreckage of the once beautiful city. The Aftermath
After the raid was over, Torrin began reconstruction immediately, helping out himself. He designed tall and think walls made out of the mountain's stone, a hard material perfect for impenetrable walls. He never wanted his city to be the target of an attack again. He developed new forms of technology to defend his city. Cauldrons of hot rocks, holes for archers to shoot from, even flamethrowers. He built his city around the cliffs and ravines of his domain, making almost any assault impossible. Meanwhile, Siv reveled in his overwhelming victory back in his Domain, throwing parties and feasts like no other. The other Spirits soon had word of what had happened, and a lot of them left the Humans. Inari transformed herself into a Mask, unfusing herself from her Chosen. Ari vanished, but kept her link with the Humans via her Chosen and blessings. Zaragoza hadn't even really cared for his humans, so nothing changed. And Yrsa made sure that such violence could never happen again, training her warriors in the ways of restraint, and laws.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
