Pristell - old doc
(pronounced Priss-tell)The Golden Lady
Intro:
Pristell is a noble god who is revered by those who rule through a monarchy, or by the nobles that support that system. She is good-natured but follows a strict set of social rules and etiquette.Dogma:
Noblesse Oblige is the rule of the day for the followers of Pristell. The noble were born to rule and succeed. It is not that the poor do not have their place, in fact quite the opposite. They perform a valuable function in society, and they are respected (limited) for their contributions. The nobles fulfill a role also, and that is to lead and be an example for the lesser folk to aspire to. It is important for nobles and royalty to strive to be the best person they can be so the subjects of their rule can learn from their efforts and try to emulate the nobles. The country must prosper on the decisions of the nobles and royalty so the people who make up that strata of society need to be of quality.Major Centres of Worship:
Essillion has a major temple to Pristell and all noble households (including the Royal Palace) hold a shrine to The Maiden Queen. These are usually great works of art in their own right and guests are welcome to offer their thanks to The Duchess. While she has a temple in Avandar it is not a major place of worship, as they are more prone to council government than to royalty or nobility.Relations with other gods:
Pristell and Curceon are extremely loyal to each other, and to their young son Eriken. Vocerix and Pristell enjoy each other’s company and they share many of the same worshippers in regard to the bureaucracy. Pristell is jealous of Josefan but does not bear her any real ill-will. Greegis, on the other hand is vermin and someone who needs to be removed from society.Description:
Pristell appears as a tall, beautiful woman of royal bearing. Her head is always held high and she is dressed impeccably. Her golden hair is worn long and braided. She rarely looks down on anyone and when she does meet a gaze it is with understanding and compassion. When she walks with her husband Curceon the two of them project an aura of goodness and perfection. Though it is rare, Pristell has been known to defend herself with her rod of rulership. Her followers will often use a rod or a mace as their weapon of choice to symbolize their right to rule.Other Manifestations:
Pristell may sometimes appear as a nimbus of light that emanates from a royal crown. In Avandar she enjoys manifesting as a golden-hued porpoise, playfully jumping and swimming. In Essillion she is often a royal house cat, purring delightedly.
