Sun Flame Tongue "Sun Arcana"
Sun Flame Tongue (Sun Arcana)
Weapon
Varies requires attunement
This sword is the trusted weapon of Trot, the god of day. Originally it was a simple Flame Tongue, but after saving the genie blacksmith of the sun forge it was reforged into a powerful artifact which is forever linked to Trots soul.
Hard to grasp. The longsword can’t be targeted by the detect magic or the identify spell.
Nondetection. The Sun Flame Tongue defies attempts to magically locate it. Neither the sword nor its wearer can be targeted by any divination magic or perceived through magical scrying sensors.
Sentience. The Sun Flame Tongue is a sentient true neutral longsword with an Intelligence of 14, a Wisdom of 10, and a Charisma of 16. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 60 feet.
The sword communicates telepathically with its wielder and can speak, read, and understand Common and Infernal.
Personality. A part of Trot’s soul lives within the Sun Flame Tongue. The sword is an extension of himself, and because of that, he would ever only lend it to his most trusted followers. You have to be a true hero who fears no foe to earn the right of wielding this blade.
Trust. Like all artifacts created in the Sun Forge the Sun Flame Tongue becomes stronger the more it trusts and recognises its wielder. Upon attuning to the artifact one has to achieve heroic deeds to gain Trot’s trust and get the permission to even wield the sword.
Rank 1 (Recognized). Upon reaching Trust Rank 1 you get the allowance to wield the sword and are granted the following benefits:
• You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls.
• The sword ignores resistance to slashing damage.
• Flame Tongue. You can use a bonus action to speak the sword's command word, causing flames to erupt from the blade. These flames shed bright light in a 40-foot radius and dim light for an additional 40 feet. While the sword is ablaze, it deals an extra 2d6 fire damage to any target it hits. The flames last until you use a bonus action to speak the command word again or until you drop or sheathe the sword.
Rank 2 (Friendly). Upon reaching Trust Rank 2 the sword grants you the following benefits:
• The sword ignores resistance to fire damage.
• Spells. While the sword is on your person, you can use an action to cast one of the following spells (spell save DC 16) from it: daylight, or fireball. Once you use the sword to cast a spell, you can't cast that spell again from it until the next dawn.
Rank 3 (Trusted). Upon reaching Trust Rank 3 the sword grants you the following benefits:
• You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls.
• The sword ignores immunity to slashing damage.
• The fire damage dealt by the Flame Tongue feature increases to 3d6.
• Vorpal. When you attack a creature that has at least one head with this sword and roll a 20 on the attack roll, you cut off one of the creature's heads. The creature dies if it can't survive without the lost head. A creature is immune to this effect if it doesn't have or need a head, has legendary actions, or the DM decides that the creature is too big for its head to be cut off with this weapon. Such a creature instead takes an extra 6d8 slashing damage from the hit.
