Rho Senketh Bazaar

Continents are centers of strife, war, and hostility. A Mortumnus in Kahldin is more likely to be forced out of a city than welcomed in to trade. Denizens of Torgott are often resented and treated with hostility wherever they roam. Wanting to expand trade beyond just their continents, enterprising individuals from all continents came together atop a smaller, city-sized Titan to create a new hub of commerce. Thus, Rho Senketh Bazaar was born.   Though few people take up permanent residence in the Bazaar (the few who do most often being staff), many people come and go through the Bazaar on a fairly regular basis, with it being one of the few neutral grounds where anyone can speak with and do business with anyone without judgment. Though there are no official rules against violence or military action in the Bazaar, it is an unspoken rule that conflicts are left outside.   Though the Bazaar is certainly a location of great visible prosperity, its black market is almost more prosperous than its legitimate one. The Silent Market, as it is known, is both in and outside of the Bazaar, omnipresent but rarely seen. Slaves, artifacts, royal treasures, almost anything can be acquired... at a price. The primary staff of the Bazaar constantly attempt to shut it down, but the Silent Market persists yet.   The Bazaar is a place of commerce for all, a place of peace for many, and a place of new beginnings for some... including our party.

Demographics

People of all origins, ages, and temperaments come and go at the Bazaar.

Government

There exists a core staff of about 40 people that act as staff, ensuring everything goes to plan by organizing the docks and the locations where the merchants may set up to sell their wares. Out of those 40 people, about 5 serve as top-level administrators, with only two being seen by the general public. Though a few sets of general rules are present that govern what may occur at the Bazaar, unspoken rules end up being the ultimate source of government.

Defences

The only defenses of the Bazaar are the patrons themselves. Most aggressive beasts do not even make it as far as the Bazaar due to no beasts of that type being native, and the unspoken rules of the Bazaar stop most conflict before it could even occur. The few major conflicts at the Bazaar have been resolved quite quickly thanks to the few (but effective) staff guards and the variously armed patrons.

Industry & Trade

Trade, trade, and more trade. The Bazaar itself makes money off of the quite small taxes it levies, which add up quickly thanks to the volume of commerce, and off of the restaurant that it runs. This money is used to pay the staff, and then is known to be donated to worthy causes.

Infrastructure

There is a large, interior portion of the Bazaar which is a multi-level settlement. On the ground floor, the first place seen when coming from the docks, there are about 30 market stalls, 10 of which are relatively fixed installments, and the rest of which rotate on a fairly regular basis. The second floor has about 10 more market stalls along with a large inn that travelers frequent if coming to the Bazaar for multiple days. The third floor has a large restaurant (owned by the Bazaar) and a common space for casual discussions as well as business deals. The fourth floor has an open space, used for performances, large-scale events, and other major functions, as well as offering a lovely view out beyond the Titan. Though the interior portion of the Bazaar takes up the better portion of the Titan, there is an exterior portion on the other side of the Bazaar from the docks that has a few small houses and other basic buildings, as well as a small field.   Those of a shadier persuasion know of a moderately sized basement and several side rooms that house the deals of the Silent Market. They also know of the Contact, who is not a single person but a rotation of people that hang about the port and can connect an inquisitive individual with whomever it is they need.

Assets

Just about anything can be found at the Bazaar. You name it, it's acquirable... somehow.

Guilds and Factions

The Guild is the only major faction that is officially recognized within the Bazaar, which is the staff that run it. That said, the Silent Market has great influence on the goings-on of the area as well.

History

The Bazaar has existed since the beginning of the Judistacian War. It has been a quite stable establishment since then, with only minor renovations every few years to maintain the Bazaar's function.

Architecture

The floors of the building are stone and metal, while the walls are mostly wood. The interior portion is built to be almost compulsively symmetrical in its architecture, though the merchants that come and go have a tendency to ruin that fearful symmetry.

Geography

What with the Rho Senketh Titan being flat and without as many natural features as a continent Titan, the Bazaar (and its surroundings) are also flat. There is a small river that passes next to the field, which is the only natural source of water on the Titan.

Natural Resources

Any natural resources that this Titan had appear to have been razed during the creation of the Bazaar. Even the water on the Titan is so limited that the residents frequently import water to ensure that they have enough. There are a few domesticated beasts nearby the field, but they are quite few in number.
