Jellek's Fury

I thought we'd been stolen into a waxing jungle, but we still were in the middle of da ocean! - Havel Blacktooth
The Sea's forest is a legend told by sailors, pirates, and anyone who spend their time sailing the open seas. The myth tells of a fleet of ships, made out of living trees, that carry a jungle with them, and wreak nature's wrath on any who oppose them.

Summary

Description

The Floating Jungle is a myth spread around the southern oceans and seas of Aervos. It tells tale of a collection of ships that look to be made of a single tree for each boat. Instead of a sail, a tangle of branches and vines take the place. How the ships navigate is unknown, as the legends say there are not any rudders or wheels. The bodies are said to look like humongous trees were streaked and shaped into the form of a ship.

Encounters

The legend says that an encounter with the Floating Jungle always ends poorly for whoever encounters it. The ships are said to appear out of nowhere, suddenly surrounding any unfortunate ships. Suddenly, an abundance of flora sprouts out of the ships, spreading until the prey has been fully enveloped in the spontaneous trees, vines and other jungle nature. There are different versions of what happens next. Some say a crew appears, slaughtering any trapped sailors, others say the plants take them. The motives of the ships are unknown. Either way, it never ends well for the unfortunate sailors.

Historical Basis

There is evidence that proves the existence of these tree ships. Tabok oral history tells about types of great trees, similar to their Hometrees, that somehow disappeared from the Deparedos jungles. Given the way the ships attack with jungle flora, it indicates the relation between the two. It is unknown as to who turned these trees into ships and what their motives are.
