Skeffe Liftcraft

A Skeffe Lift is a vehicle that can raise or lower in altitude based on interactions with Skeffe Core implanted. Modern Skeffe Liftcraft are designed like ships, using sails to move horizontally through the sky.

Skeffe Technology

The lifts are operated by Skeffe Core, a material that is extracted from the core of the Skeffe Isles, a collection of floating islands. By manipulating the Core, through some sort of magic energy, the core increases or decreases in magnetism, to the earth below, and will either float up or down.

History

When the properties of the Skeffe Core were discovered, the first thing it was used for was the creation of lifts, attached to ropes, to ascend and descend from Askelia to the bottom world. Access to the lifts were very limited at the time, and a costly lift to take. Askelia then began searching for ways to move horizontally. They found that using standard ship sails in combination with the Skeffe Core resulted in a effective airship. Although quite difficult to control, they had a quick way to traverse the other islands. The only problem is that an shard of Skeffe Core can quickly run out of magic energy and loses its ability, and will fall to the ground.

Rarity

Skeffe Core is not easy to come by. The only way to acquire the material is by harvesting the core itself, and doing so reduces the elevation of the islands. The City of Askelia is very particular on the harvesting of their core, and harvesting other islands meets with fierce Kiwet resistance. This makes Skeffe Core very rare, with only a few Liftcraft in operation, and owning one is proof of your status, riches, or power.
