Rakefia

Rakefia is an ancient state, built on the backs of slaves.   Many centuries ago, in 237 PG, the city of Rakefia were the first ones to start using bronze weapons, giving them a huge technological advantage. They started subjugating smaller settlements, enslaving the peoples, and expanding their territory. At some point, the entire southern part of Aeseron was part of the empire. The slaves were used to build huge temples to many of the gods -But mostly to Zestasia, goddess of the sun- , and massive burial mounds called Megaliths . The Archons of old would be mummified and buried in these structures, along with most of their possessions, including slaves.   Geography   The city itself was founded on the banks of the Mavros river. This allowed them to practice agriculture, since the rest of the region is mostly desert-like. Huge sandy dunes surround a lush, narrow streak of beautiful land. There are smaller rivers with small settlements here and there, even two minor cities called Abydos and Amarna, but most of the population resides in the huge, huge capitol city on the Mavros.   Current State   In the year 678 PG, Rakefia outlawed slavery, under pressure from the other city states who had either never been subjugated, or had broken free. It started steadily declining from an expansive empire, to a larger-than-normal city-state. Now it only has its protectorate, Shakewia, as outside territories. Although it is still a rich nation, it's a far throw from its roots as dominating geopolitical presence   The current leader of Rakefia is Archon Elion Kyrios. A kind man, who has the image of being deeply ashamed of his state's bloody past. though the Rakefian council of nobles sometimes views him as weak, he has lead Rakefia in a period of peace and relative prosperity.   Religion in Rakefia   The Sun Elves of Rakefia worship the same gods as most of the continent, but depict them differently, and often give them different characteristics. The Primes are depicted as humanoid figures with animal heads. They also have a messiah figure in the one the call Ishtar. She was, according to the legend, a child of Atum, their own version of Zestasia, and a mortal Sun Elf. She united the tribes under guidance of Atum, and the people started revering her as holy.   Other names for the gods:

Symbols and iconography The Rakefians hold a lot of value to symbols. All of their factions have their own icon, often an animal they think shares certain features with said faction.   One thing Rakefia has held as a symbol since ages past, is the Three Eyed Jackal. Their first king, Tsakali I, claimed to have received a vision from the Primes, in the form of a three eyed jackal sitting on the edge of his bed while he slept. Since then, it has been sighted several times, or at least claimed to have been sighted. It is seen as a very good omen.
