The Seekers

The Seekers are a group of elite bounty hunters who operate out of the city of Aros. They are highly skilled and experienced trackers, having honed their abilities in the harsh steppes surrounding the city. The Seekers are known for their unwavering dedication to their work, their commitment to justice, and their willingness to take on any bounty, no matter how dangerous or challenging.   While they were founded in Aros, and their leadership still resides there, they do have smaller enclaves in most other poleis.

Origins

The Seekers were founded by a group of Aros's most skilled warriors, who were tired of seeing the city plagued by criminals and bandits. They recognized the need for a specialized group of individuals who could track down and apprehend these dangerous individuals. With the support of the city's leaders, the Seekers were formed to fill this void.

Membership

Potential members must undergo a rigorous selection process, which includes a series of physical and mental trials, as well as an evaluation of their skills, experience, and character. This, of course explains why it is still a relatively small organisation. Those who are accepted into the Seekers are sworn to uphold the group's code of conduct, which emphasizes justice, integrity, and loyalty. If all members truly adhere to these values is up for discussion.

Code of Conduct

The Seekers operate under a strict code of conduct that guides their actions and decisions. The code emphasizes the following principles:
  • Justice: The Seekers are committed to bringing criminals to justice, regardless of their personal opinions or biases.
  • Integrity: The Seekers are honest and truthful in their dealings with others, and they uphold their promises and commitments.
  • Loyalty: The Seekers are loyal to their fellow Seekers and their allies.

Operations

The Seekers operate independently of the city guard, but they maintain a close working relationship with the authorities. They are typically hired on a case-by-case basis, taking on bounties that are too difficult or dangerous for the city guard to handle. The Seekers are also known to investigate unsolved crimes, and they have a reputation for solving cases that have baffled the authorities. In other poleis, this collaboration isn't really a thing. In those places, The Seekers often take a less savoury approach, skirting the extents of the law. While the organisation technically doesn't allow their hunters to break the law, this isn't always upheld in practise.

Reputation

The Seekers are respected and admired by the people of Aros, who appreciate their dedication to keeping the city safe. The Seekers also have a good working relationship with the city's leaders, who recognize their value and expertise. In other cities, they are not quite as appreciated. They are often suspected of being Arosian agents, which they of course fully deny. In most city-states, they are tolerated, with the notable exception of Rakefia.

Symbols

The Seekers carry badges of service. They are silver, shield-shaped badges with a pair of shackles engraved in them.
