The most pressing external threat is the neighboring Realm of Zhor, the nation of the Volkran'dur. The Gruul Empire has been embroiled in a long-standing conflict with the Zhor, known as the Buried Wars, a war that has raged on since the Year 755 and continues inflict misery upon both nations and their people. As a result, those bearing the Mark of Hemorrhage are often called upon to serve in the front lines of this bloody conflict, defending the Gruul Empire and the cults governing it.
