Gruul Faction: The Mark of Hemorrhage

The Mark of Hemorrhage is a distinctive mark among the Gruul, signifying the role and class of an individual within the Norhg's cult. This emblem serves as an symbol of allegiance and designates the bearer as part of the cultic warriors and taskbearers who are dedicated to safeguarding the interests of the Norhg and the Mrorsa, also known as the Hive Queens.

Symbol of Loyalty

At its core, the Mark of Hemorrhage symbolizes true loyalty between the Gruul carrying the mark and the Mrorsa, the Hive Queens they wholeheartedly serve, even to the point of self-sacrifice. This mark is not merely an emblem but a solemn oath of service and fealty to their cult and the Mrorsa.

Duties of the Hemorrhage

The duties of those marked with the Mark of Hemorrhage encompass a wide range of responsibilities vital to the well-being of the Norhg. Most prominently, they consist of being the frontline warriors and chosen taskbearers entrusted with defending the interests of their cult, especially against the other two cults that seek the destruction of the Norhg. These warriors are often called upon to engage in conflict on the streets of their cities or random tunnels of the Hrurvyr Depths, defending the Norhg and the Mrorsa's aims.   However, not all who bear this mark are warriors. A significant portion also serves as taskbearers, assuming diverse roles such as spies, messengers, diplomats, and managers of the cult's economy. The taskbearers play a multifaceted role in managing the intricacies of the cult's daily functioning and ensuring its continued prosperity.

The Imperial Swarm

In the grander Gruul societal structure, those who tread the path of a warrior are expected not only to serve their specific cult but also the Gruul Empire as a whole. The Gruul Empire, despite its internal divisions into the three cults, maintains a unified military entity known as the Imperial Swarm (or Imperial Army). The Imperial Swarm's primary responsibility is to protect the entire Gruul Empire and all its constituent cults from external threats that might jeopardize the unity and integrity of the empire.   The most pressing external threat is the neighboring Realm of Zhor, the nation of the Volkran'dur. The Gruul Empire has been embroiled in a long-standing conflict with the Zhor, known as the Buried Wars, a war that has raged on since the Year 755 and continues inflict misery upon both nations and their people. As a result, those bearing the Mark of Hemorrhage are often called upon to serve in the front lines of this bloody conflict, defending the Gruul Empire and the cults governing it.
