Aztheon Faction: The Magisters of War
The Magisters of War are an elite military division within the Magistrate's society. Distinguished by their role, they stand apart from ordinary soldiers by skillfully mixing conventional weaponry, such as swords and spears, with the lethal art of Marcry Ancestry, specifically that of Noxery. As the Ancestors of Battle in the Magistrate, the Magisters of War bear the monumental responsibility of serving as the foremost protectors of Aztheon. They ensure the safety ofthe most crucial Libraries and Towers while simultaneously acting as the Magistrate's Inquisitors, entrusted with the grim duty of purging the Whitehail Peaks of the creatures known as the Levrain.
Origins
In their early years, the Magisters of War faced substantial casualties while attempting to fulfill their onerous duties. Given the Magistrate's relatively low population, the prudent management of manpower became imperative. Subsequently, the training regimen for the Magisters underwent a comprehensive overhaul, resulting in the emergence of an elite cadre of Ancestors of Battle. These elite warriors are well-versed not only in martial and marcritic combat but also in the arduous survival skills requisite for navigating the treacherous terrain of the Whitehail Peaks.Levrain Campaign
The Magisters of War are the formidable adversaries of the Levrain. With the mandate to cleanse the Whitehail Peaks of these escaped experimental subjects, they regularly traverse the mountains, patrolling the Levrain Lowland, tracking down the fugitive Levrain. They show no hesitation in eliminating these aberrations, and their presence alone is often enough to send ripples of fear through the Levrain communities. The Magisters of War have become adept at combating guerilla tactics, understanding the terrain, and deploying counter-ambush strategies to maintain an upper hand.The Army of Masked Faces: the Aharshick
One of the Magisters' principal responsibilities is the training of the Aharshick (meaning “Flayed”, translated from Old Arkey), a secretive and mysterious army whose true origins remain a mystery. The Magistrate’s main army that they’d deploy in case of a war, would be the Aharshick and not the Magisters of War, as the Aharshick to them, are expendable. These foot soldiers are covered in full-body armor and conceal their faces with masks, never uttering a word. They are said to bear a reptilian, black-scaled apperance, yet numerous speculations exist, suggesting a wide array of physical attributes. Visitors and outsiders are left to mere conjecture, as the true identity and origin of the Aharshick remain known only to the Magistrate's Three Listeners and their closest, most loyal adherents.
