Beast: Sniareeth
A Sniareeth’s Life
Sniareeths belong to the category of Lesser Beings; Greater Beast-kinds, and they are notoriously challenging to tame or control. Their instincts are driven by an overwhelming compulsion towards marcritic energies, to the extent that they might not heed their master's call even in dire emergencies. Emotional connections are foreign to these creatures, and their materialistic nature prevails; they place utmost value on Marcry energy and items that store it, nothing is ever more important than that, not even food. Even though rare, there are cases of dead Sniareeths killed by starvation as a result of their Marcry pursue. Sniareeths predominantly roam the surface waters, ceaselessly scouring for valuables. Only during the nighttime do they pause their search to safeguard their already amassed treasures or to attend to their eggs. This unique behavioral pattern has shaped their sleep schedule, which deviates significantly from typical bestial or animal sleep patterns. Sniareeths rest with an awareness of their surroundings, keeping their eyes open. Their sleep spans a maximum of four hours, and during this period, they remain active, frequently dozing for a few minutes after every 30 minutes of search activity. This estimate, however, is subject to significant individual variation.Paranoid Predators of the Sea
Sniareeths exhibit paranoid tendencies, especially when it comes to potential threats or intruders. If they sense that something or someone is following them or treading a similar path, they react swiftly and aggressively. As a result, mortal ships tend to steer clear of the routes taken by Sniareeths, given that these creatures swim just below the water's surface, making them completely visible to passing vessels.Interaction with Mortals
Sniareeths typically don't launch immediate attacks on mortals. Instead, they investigate, sniffing around to determine if the mortals possess valuable marcritic items. Should they find such items, the Sniareeths signal their intent by rapidly flapping their fins, essentially laying claim on the treasures they desire. If the mortals comply by relinquishing their marcritic possessions, the Sniareeths will not escalate the situation further. Instead, they collect the items with their mouths and depart, leaving the mortals unharmed. However, this holds true primarily for items of average or low marcritic potency. In stark contrast, if a mortal carries a genuine marcritic artifact or a potent staff or rune perhaps, the Sniareeth will launch an immediate attack, relentlessly pursuing its prey, regardless of the consequences. Throughout the ages, mortals and Sniareeths have been great enemies for one another. Ever since the Dawn of Creation, to this day, mortals, driven by their insatiable greed, relentlessly hunt Sniareeths to seize the troves of treasure they had accumulated over the years. A few hundred years earlier, the prevailing tactic among beast hunters involved tracking the Sniareeth to its lair, swiftly dispatching it, and laying claim to its hoarded wealth. This relentless hunting pressure over centuries has transformed Sniareeths into the paranoid, untrusting creatures they are today, with a heightened aversion to any perceived pursuit, hence this strategy to hunt them is no longer a viable option.General Information
