Councillerian Faction: The Keepers
The Keepers are the government of the Council of Ephyr, serving as the wise guides for the Ephyran people. Once but a respected group of advisors of the old Serenity Table under the rule of the Overlords, since the Tragedy of Ephyr, they have become the heads of state of the Councilleria. The composition of the Keepers primarily includes individuals of old age, those possessing proven wisdom, and those who exhibit considerable prowess as Mages or Wizards, depending on the unique value they can offer to the Keepers' council. Membership in this group is a privilege reserved for those who have either lived through the heart-wrenching calamity of Ephyr's Tragedy, or have been bestowed with the memory of this catastrophic event, earning them the title of Keepers of the Memory.
The Responsiblity of the Keepers
As the Keepers claim, their duty is to preserve the history, heritage, and wisdom of the Ephyran people, for the Ephyran people. However, every since the Tragedy, their duty’s focus is mainly on safekeeping the knowledge and memory of Ephyr's Tragedy. From their perspective, knowledge and truth is considered much too heavy of a responsibility for the average Ephyran to handle, thus their duty is to protect it, for the prosperity and security of the Councilleria and its people. As their second most important duty, the Keepers are the ones responsible for calling the people together via the Hollow Chant, to guide them to the Underlight Mountain and hear the Ephyran people’s voice in matters of greater manner or concern. Becoming a Keeper is not a trivial task; it is a recognition of wisdom, responsibility, and often, exceptional marcritic prowess. Those who aspire to join the ranks of the Keepers must either possess unparalleled wisdom or prove their worth through accomplishments that substantially benefit the Councilleria. It is also imperative that they have lived through the horrors of Ephyr's Tragedy or have been granted the memory by existing Keepers, granting them access to the rare and powerful Marcry Seal known as Dai'cara. This powerful Marcry Seal not only protects the knowledge of the catastrophe but also prevents unauthorized access or alterations when it comes to the individual’s mind.
