The Volkran’dur, also referred to as the ‘Fire Beneath,’ represent a primal and fierce branch of the Volkran race. Flourishing within the intense depths beneath the volcanoes of the Land of Fire, these individuals have carved out a rugged existence in the heart of shadowy infernos.
Their dwelling places span across an expansive array of settlements that form a complex subterranean network within the labyrinthine passages known as ‘The Unborn Path.’ This fiery domain is their home and refuge, where the searing energy of Fire shapes their way of life.
Volkran'dur experience swift maturation, reaching adulthood at the age of 10. However, their lifespans are comparatively shorter, typically spanning less than a century. Despite their violent reputation and primitive origins, not all Volkran’dur are fire-zealot pshycopaths as most otherwise like to believe.
Physical Description
The Volkran'dur, often referred to as the "giants" among the civilized races, are distinguished by their imposing stature, averaging between 6 to 8 feet in height. Their physical attributes set them apart as formidable beings possessing unmatched strength and resilience. The most striking aspect of their appearance is their distinctive skin. Seemingly forged in the depths of the hottest forges, their skin carries an appearance reminiscent of burnt, rock-hardened texture. This remarkable characteristic is predominantly black, resembling the obsidian formations forged in the heart of Zhor's molten core. The Volkran'dur's skin emits a radiant, fiery red glow. This quality brings an otherworldly aura to their presence, as if they are constantly infused with the raw energy of fire itself. The Volkran’dur, a distinct and fiery subrace, have been spreading their fire and rage on Aesor since the Year 820 of the First Age A.A. Unlike the majority of races, the Volkran’dur did not emerge from the creative mind of the Óhin; their origins are entwined with the cataclysmic events that unfolded within the heart of the Zhor Volcano. In an unprecedented act of courage or recklessness, a large group of Volkran men and women ventured into the depths of the Zhor Volcano, exposing themselves to the raw and potent forces dwelling within. The outcome was transformative and catastrophic, as they became infused with the very essence of fire that defined their environment. This marked the inception of the Volkran’dur, a fiery subrace distinct from their Volkran’dir kin. The aftermath of this fateful encounter reverberated across the realm, giving rise to the Sundering, a series of events, involving wake of the Zhor Volcano that plunged Vahalzaar into perpetual turmoil. The land transformed into the scorched expanse it is known as today, and this event profoundly divided the Volkran people. The Volkran’dur emerged as a separate entity from the Volkran people, which resulted in the birth of the Volkran’dir name for their kin. Each marked by their unique experiences and traits, yet both forever linked to the volatile essence of fire that determined their very existence.
