Vahalzaar Faction: The Chambermen
The Chambermen on paper, are a private military company of Volkran’dir origins, entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the operations of the Chamber of Commerce. This underground facility, deep within the network of the Unborn Path beneath Aesor, serves as the point of trade between the traders of Vahalzaar and the Gruul Empire. Ensuring the Chamber functions smoothly and efficiently is paramount, as the Chamber is the only thing that is capable to enhance the relationship between the Clans and the Gruul.
Roles and Responsibilities
The primary role of the Chambermen is to manage and safeguard the Chamber of Commerce during its 8-hour operating period. These trade sessions occur at 22-day intervals, necessitating meticulous preparations. The Chambermen diligently facilitate the trade, striving to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in adherence to the principles of the Gruul. Establishing and preserving this amicable environment is vital, as it allows both sides to conduct their trade efficiently and productively without much interactions unfortunately for the Clans’, as they always seek to get closer and closer to eventually ally themselves with the Imperials. Interestingly, membership in the Chambermen does not exclusively confine an individual to the duties of guarding the Chamber of Commerce. Nowadays, a growing number of Chambermen serve another role as licensed mercenaries. They are dispatched to the Hrurvyr front, where they engage as a private military company, supporting the Imperial Swarm (the Gruul army) on the Hrurvyr front, against the Khonzhan (the burning army of Zhor). This dual role of guarding the commerce hub and participating in military endeavors is indicative of their dedication to enhancing relations between the Clans and the Gruul Empire. One of the Chambermen's primary objectives as mercenaries is to establish trust with the Gruul Empire. By demonstrating their commitment and efficacy in supporting Gruul interests on the battlefield, the Chambermen aim to pave the way for a formal alliance between the Gruul Empire and the Clans of Vahalzaar. Additionally, their efforts aim to secure a highly advantageous trade contract that benefits both the Gruul Empire and the Clans.Maintaining Secrecy
Officially, the Chambermen operate as a distinct entity and do not belong to the Volkrangard, the Clans' military. This separation enables them to act as an independent mercenary organization while discreetly representing the Clans' interests. Their unofficial involvement in military activities is primarily intended to keep the Clans' connection to the Hrurvyr front concealed, especially from the prying eyes of the Realm of Zhor. Although Zhor is suspicious of the Chambermen, they have yet to discover any concrete evidence of the Clans' direct involvement, which allows the Chambermen to be perceived as Volkran'dir mercenaries serving the needs of both the Clans and traders while guarding the Chamber of Commerce and furthering diplomatic relations with the Gruul Empire.
