The Dawn of Creation
Life, Birth
The birth of the mortal races.
The era following the Draconic Era, known as the Dawn of Creation, was marked by the birth of the mortal races and the shaping of Aesor into a world inhabited by civilised, free races, no longer forced into slavery like the Beasts and the Wyrms. No one understands why the Draconic Empire changed their perspective however, many religious zealots believe that it was the pressure from the dragon-god Kalzamaath himself. But, even though the Dragons moved on from slavery, this period’s details also present a lot of conflicting narratives, with the creation of races and their history.
Populating Aesor
Around 70 years after the
Draconic Era, the
Tome of the Kingdom speaks of a perfect world where
Kalzamaath, in collaboration with the
Dragons, commenced the process of populating
Aesor with mortal races. This era witnessed the birth of the
Arkey, the sprout of
Ephyrans, the molding of
Alarians, the forging of the
Volkran, and
Nepheli fished out of the
Four Isles Sea, each race introduced to the world at intervals spanning from the
Year 141 to 187.
Obviously, the precise details of their creation remain obscured by the fantastic stories of the
Tome. The official narrative, as depicted in the
Abbey's Tome of the Kingdom, claims the
Dragons' direct involvement in the creation and teaching of these races. Nevertheless, skepticism prevails among independent historians who dispute the
Abbey's account, labeling it as pure propaganda.
The Lord Taleteller
According to the
Tome of the Kingdom,
Balrose, instead of aiding in the creation and guidance of future races alongside the
Dragons, made himself the leader of the
Arkey race, a race purportedly resembling
Balrose and his unique kind, essentially establishing the
Magistrate of Aztheon. This alleged deviation from assisting the
Dragons in the creation of other races marked a turning point, straining the relationship between
Balrose and the
Dragons.
Wars & the Sixth Race
The
Dawn of Creation was marred by conflicts that shaped the course of
Aesor's early history. Three major wars punctuated this era: the
Hex Wars, the
War of the Dead Cay, and the
Struggle for the Sea. Of these, the
Struggle for the Sea was particularly brutal, leaving lasting scars on the land and its inhabitants.
However, amidst these conflicts, a fourth war unfolded with the sudden appearance of the
Gruul, an imperial hivemind race that seemed to rise mysteriously from the
Unborn Path. Their sudden emergence led to a conflict with the
Clans of Vahalzaar, prompting a clash for control over the
Unborn Path's tunnels, which the
Gruul and a significant portion of the
Volkran populace called home (later the
Volkran’dur and
Zhor).
Historical Discrepancies
In the eyes of the independent historians, the
Dawn of Creation remains a period of controversy in
Aesor's history. The discrepancies between the
Abbey's accounts and independent academic perspectives continue to challenge the authenticity of the events and the narrative presented by the
Abbey's chronicles.
Historians and scholars delve into the conflicting accounts and seek to unravel the obscured truths of this era, striving to piece together the fragmented history and separate the myths from the factual occurrences that shaped the early years of
Aesorian civilization. Yet, the tales surrounding the birth of races, the conflicts, and the sudden appearance of strange folks like the
Gruul persist as puzzles waiting to be solved with no help from those that lived through the era.
