Crownguard

There are various body guard deployments in Requiem. Lords are subject to the Summer Guard, a group of Wyvern Knights assigned to each individual. For the royal family, the Crownguard has been their protectors for hundreds of years. 
Crownguard are the elite, pulled from various divisions and sometimes even hired in from outside if shown astounding work. Crownguard members are trained in both magic and martial ways, to fight threats of all kind to the royal family. Crownguard swear themselves to the royal bloodline, and must defend the royal family with their lives. Only 12 exist at a time, a dozen of the best trained and equipped soldiers in all of Requiem. 
The Crownguard live within Fuller Keep. 1-2 individuals are assigned to each member of the immediate royal family. The rest protect the palace and work as both messengers and elite soldiers for the direct command of the monarch. 
Crownguard are identified by their dark blue armour, with white plumes. Each one wields a weapon of their choosing, with heraldry on their breastplates unique to themselves. 
The Crownguard have a 'leader' to a degree, one who manages the group when the monarch is not present, and who manages safety and security. Known as the Aegis Lord, each Aegis Lord is often a renowned and well serviced Crownguard who is most veteran of the group. The Aegis Lord is not appointed by the monarch, but rather elected by the Crownguard.
