Phelo

Phelo was once a follower of Ohr, before his ascent into divinity. His devotion is not blind, and in fact Phelo's interpretations of some of Ohr's commandments veer into the heretical, but he claims to be a true scion of the Gatekeeper God.
How he managed to return from beyond the gates of life and death is unknown, but Phelo's grip on the world of the living is contingent on his being attached to a living soul. Mori, son of a tithebearer of a cult of Ohr, now serves this purpose. Though Phelo is displeased that he must shepard a young, naive charge in order to accomplish his nebulous goals, he nonetheless grudgingly teaches and protects Mori on the boy's adventures.

Phelo is the spirit of a long-departed follower of Ohr, who has returned to the world of the living by latching onto Mori's soul. He is harsh but (in his mind) fair, and is deeply devoted to Ohr's teachings.
