Dwarves

The dwarves are a stalwart and proud people rarely willing to go down on the quality of anything they make. To most outsiders dwarves are stern and foul mothed, though those who get to know them better come to know them as great companions with their halls being filled with laughter and hammers banging against metal. The dwarves make their homes deep in mountains building grand citadels to stand any siege coming from above. While dwarves are very slow to trust others, especially humans they're some of the most dependable friends once can have if trust is gained.
Dwarves stand about a foot lower than humans dwarves are short but stout, they are broad for their size, and often grow long beards, though male beards grow longer than females. Their beard is most often their pride, which can be seen by how well they're taken care of, with intricate patterns often representing different clans.
Artisans of Legends

Anything made by dwarves is of high quality make ranging from weapons to grand sculptures, they all bear the quality of dwarven make. While dwarves are not as great at fine enchanting as elves and gnomes, they instead carve runes into their weapons to give them further effect. High amounts of coin are often traded by armies to get weaponry made by the dwarves, or even to have them along as their soldiers.

To the dismay of the dwarves they have lost many prized artifacts throughout the times through sacking from above, or by dark creatures from bellow seeking to get rid of the dwarves. Though in recent times their craft has steadily declined as their sacred forges are loosing more and more power, as the last remains of their blessings can scarcely hold up anymore, leading many dwarves to franticly look for artifacts of old hoping they might contain more of the essence of their lost god.
A Desperate Bout for Survival

When dwarves first landed in Aethar they found themselves at the within the Barmir Mountains, where after much confusion they quickly got to working on making themselves a new home. When The Great Purge began the dwarves had the advantage of not being the first target of the human's rampage, so they had time to bar themselves within their new mountain homes. After ten years of construction and relative peace with the humans the dwarves had managed to construct two major citadels the Fortress city of Frathwarí (Frath-war-shee) and the ruined city of Garimglor. When the humans came to eradicate the dwarves they barred themselves behind their walls, though the only settlement that was left standing was Frathwarí.

As the humans were trying to bash down their barricades the dwarves continued to dig deeper, as the mithril they had been relying on previously wasn't good enough against the human armies. And just in the right time when they were just about to be wiped out, they discovered a new ore deep beneath the earth. The new ore was adamantine which could be made into armor powerful enough that their opponents attacks were powerless against them. And so the human hordes were pushed away from Frathwarí and the dwarves continued to stay locked away. They had won the battle but at the cost of half of their population due to the war and famine.

When the dwarves resurfaced many years later, they discovered that the landscape had greatly changed, and found themselves surrounded by the armies of the Mithil Empire, the dwarvish Thane quickly realized that he had no other choice than to submit to the empire in exchange for being able to govern themselves.

There are still some of the older dwarves that find the act of surrendering to the Mithil Empire a pathetic act of cowardice, and will not let go of the memory that the humans had tried to slaughter their entire race not but a few centuries before. Some now see how the Empire has grown weak and sick, encouraging their fellow dwarves to try and overthrow them and gain the valley for themselves. Though such talks have been banned by the current Thane, and any act of rebellion against the Empire is seen as an act of rebellion against Frathwarí.
