Half-Elf
The half-elves are creatures of two worlds being the children of a human and an elf or two half-elves. They inherit some of the qualities of each race, but none of the recognition between either of them. From their human side they inherit curiosity, and a great ambition, while from their elven heritage they inherit, a deep resonating love of nature, and artistic tastes. They stand just taller than the average man and just shorter than the average elf, they do not posses the lithe graze from the elves, nor are they as broad as humans. Half-elven males are able to grow beards, which some choose to do to hide their elven heritage from prying eyes, while many other features can lean more elven than human, they always have the eyes of their elven side, more almond in shape, though sometimes more pronounced than other times.
Half-elves neither fit into human nor elven cultures with each side seeking to find the vile in them from the other races, with humans seeing them as dangerous killers if given the chance, and elves seeing them as brutes on par with humans with little regard for the life around them. Very few half-elves were conceived by an elf and a human, with most half-elves having half-elven parents themselves, and even on rare occurrences by two humans with elven heritage that hadn't pronounced itself in which case it is rare that the parents keep the child. This forces most to take up a lifestyle of wandering the roads between towns and staying within them for as short periods of time as possible. This lifestyle suited them for a while with their talents of finesse and music creating multiple bands of half-elven performers. Though half-elves have learned to put on the face of happiness and dazzle their audience with lights and laughter, but the few that gain the trust and friendship of a half-elf will find another truth to their hearts. They find that the hearts of half-elves are weighed down with sorrow, cursing their own existence mourning over the reality that they have no real place to live.
The reason for most of the half-elven population existing the way that they do, was an attempt to bridge the gap between humans and elves in The Great Purge. Human scholars hungry for the power of magic wanted to test if half-elves would have an easier time learning, and if their leanings could then easier be taught down to the humans. The experiment was a partial success and the humans gained a few very talented mages due to their elven heritage, though the humans figured out magic in the process and had no use for the magically inept half-elves. With no interest in keeping the "monsters" they threw them out into the wilds, hoping that the wolves would take care of them, but the half-elves persevered and began to slowly mix into civilization, as entertainers and wanderers. In recent times half-elves who decide to settle within cities or towns often live on the outskirts, and have to deal with racism from both the elves and humans living there. Often having to pay high taxes to humans, and held out of elvish communities they are forced to stick together with each other and other outcasts.
