Tiefling
The Ruby Knights of the Chastelian Provinces are feared monsters of the night, riding their steeds through the streets under the moonlight. Their horns curving back and their fangs glistening slightly, their hands ending in small claws which are soon to be drenched in blood, their eyes as black as the darkness they fight, wicked smiles spread from cheek to cheek as they slaughter monsters and people who were unlucky enough to encounter them. And as many say tieflings are not born, they are made from the blood of their enemies.
The Ruby Knights or more commonly referred to as tieflings take up the role of hunters within the provinces, hunting down monsters who prowl the streets at night and sometimes people who got too close. They stand around the height of a human, with their skin usually varying in tones of red to blue, though under the light of the moon their skin shows as the deep crimson of blood. They usually have many of their features slightly exaggerated to look more like monsters, their teeth more pointed, tails lashing behind them, dark horns, eyes completely dark, hands ending in claws, and sometimes forked tongues.
The hearts of tieflings are conflicted, as they've been transformed from their previous existence into the body and mind of a killing machine, either willingly or by other means. In their hearts are the instincts of a killer trying to take over, along with the blood of the monster transforming their bodies they are not looked upon with kind eyes. Most chastelian people often walk large arch's around tieflings to ensure they don't get too close during the day, and during the night they bar themselves in their houses fearing that they'll be caught up in their nightly slaughters. What most tieflings truly just want is to be loved by the people they're protecting, but their violent tendencies make it hard on them. As within them rages a war between monster and person, the shine of the moon makes the war nigh impossible for the tiefling to win, making them slaughter monster and man alike.
The blood of tieflings is the blood of monsters and man as the first tieflings were a group of hunters, who after spilling the blood of fiendish creatures every night for years their skin began to absorb it and their bodies transforming around it. As so tieflings were not a race that came to Aethar from another world, as some rumors would have them coming from the underworld, but instead they were once men, now being transformed by their bloodthirst and their insatiable killing lust. After the first group were transformed the chastelians wanted them out of the land, to which the hunters complied and left to ride the mountains and valleys for new prey, but when the towns could no longer protect themselves they begged for the return of the tieflings, to which they complied on the terms that an order was established for them and anyone of the order could not be blamed for the death of any peasant wandering the streets at night, and that each year they would be given ten kids from each town to train and transform into new members. In recent times The Ruby Knights ride through the streets of chastelian towns bathing them in the blood of any fiend or peasant that finds themselves in their way, and spending the days mourning their dessicion made in the name of satisfying their bloodlust. In The Chastelian Provinces they are looked upon as a necessary evil, but in many other places of the world they are seen as fiends and are either hunted, or blamed for any misdeeds they commit.
