The Razor Peak Mountains

Geography

The Razor Peak Mountains are the range of mountains that separate the Imperial Forest (also known as the War Wood) in the south from the Northern Taiga to the north. The range runs from the Western Ocean across the continent to the Sea of Storms to the east. There are passes throughout the range, some are marked on Imperial Maps, but most are not. Popular passes used by trade caravans and military convoys are the Western Pass, under the control of the minotaur and the dwarves of Drakkar, Thieves Run, a narrow valley in the mountains that leads through Opportunist's Refuge and goes into the center of the Northern Taiga, and the Eastern Valley, under no direct control of a kingdom or leader, but frequented by King Leonard's Knights and retinue.

Fauna & Flora

On the southern slopes under the treeline grow an abundance of coniferous trees in the wilderness untouched by mankind. The coniferous trees give way to deciduous trees farther south into the War Wood.   Above the treeline however, only the most hardy of flora can survive. Above the treeline only mosses and low standing brush can endure the hurricane force winds, snow, sleet, and arctic conditions and temperatures, and a short growing season.   The natural animals that make the Razor Peak Mountains their home include: deer, elk, bear-brown and black, beavers, squirrels, chipmunks, mountain lions, birds of prey to include: eagle, hawk, and osprey, and many others. Non-natural creatures include, but are not limited to: orcs, ogres, goblinkin, kobolds, humans, giantkin, Harpy and peryton stalk the skies, and there have been tales of a red dragon roost in the eastern reaches, and chimera making their dens east of the coastal Minotaur villages.

Natural Resources

Soft and hard woods from the trees on the southern slopes, quarries made to mine the stone of the mountainsides often come across veins of valuable ore and gems.
