Coven of the tide
The coven of the tide is one of the major covens in the Earthborn faith and can predominantly be found in areas near the sea. Particularly regions where the inhabitants have a strong connection or even depend on the sea for survival tend to have a strong following with the coven of the tide.
Beliefs
The coven of the tide looks at the flow of water, and see the world reflected in it. All things have their time and all things return to what they once were. Stagnation is the hallmark of corruption, but so are too rapidly changing currents and events. This relatively moderate belief system has attracted many followers in Moshabar in particular, a region which is not known for its religious fervor and its inhabitants have an easy rapport with the "come as you are" and the "live and let live" approach championed by the coven of the tide. One of their core tennants is "All things flow, what waxes must wane. What stands still turns corrupt and foul, what flows will never cease".Worship
The religious practice of the coven of the tide is closely linked with the phases of the moon. Their celebrations and ceremonies take place on the many moon phases, often bearing resemblance with the spring tide and spring ebb as well. Dark persistant rumors circulate about rites performed under the blood moon, but no follower of the tide speaks freely, if at all, about these matters. The holy sites of the coven of the tide are often either located at the start of rivers and springs or at the end where the rivers flow into a larger body of water such as a sea or lake.
Druids
Druids of the coven of the tide are among, if not the, strongest weather shaping magical practitioners. Besides being particularly gifted in weather influencing, the druids of the tide have the gift of prophecy more often than druids from other covens. The druids are revered among coastal comunities, as they guarantee that loved ones return back from the treacherous seas, their ships filled with all the bounty the sea has to offer.Rangers
Rangers of the coven of the tide are often wanderers and travel far and wide. Most of them are excellent navigators and many ship captains consider it to be good luck to have a ranger of the tide aboard their ships.Tatoos
The tatoos from the coven of the tide are characterised by elegant and flowing linework and frequently have symbols representing the moon imbedded in them. The tatoos from this tradition areHistory
In the war between celendra and providence, it was the coven of the tide that played a crucial role in forcing the aggressor Celendra to yield. Summoning massive storms, the proud fleet of the celendran navy was beaten, and it returned home bloodied and broken. The coven paid dearly, in blood, for their involvement in this conflict, being persecuted to near extinction in celendra. Where once they had large followings in both providence and Celendra, their influence has dwindled to non-existent following the end of the Clendran providence war.
