Sons of Stone
Many realms call them Dwarves, or Duende, but in this realm they are given the prestigious title of "Sons of Stone" or, "Men from under the mountain".
Created by the Golden dragon to dwell in the places of darkness in service to the light, these beings fight the relentless tide of evil that claws its way from the depths of the inner realms found within the many mountains of this realm. They are described to be valorous, honest, stout, sturdy, but short of stature.
Every wonderful contraption or craft has been influenced by them. They have very inventive minds, this is one of the ways they have adapted to undo those in service to the god of darkness. They were the very first beings of the realm to encounter the dark ones' minions, and defeat them in combat. One of the most notorious attributes of these beings is their daring. They dared stand toe to toe with the god of darkness, and almost succeeded in encasing him in a matrix of crystal, containing this evil being forever. This, however, was not to be, as the god of darkness was able to inflict the minds of his capturers just before being engulfed. The newly inflected band of Dwarves had no choice but to undo their trap. They were cursed to endless undeath, as a warning to any other Dwarf bands that might try this again. Dwarves of this realm are only male, they only reproduce through a cycle of death and rebirth. Their fairer halves being a different race entirely, the Crystal Fae. The Crystal Fae guard the Aetherite that harbor the souls of their beloved Drawves, resurrecting them when that soul decides it must rejoin the living within the realm. The resurrection ceremony includes much libation and debauchery. All Dwarves and Fae of the realm are, of course, invited to attend, and the larger the attendance, the more regard is held for the returning Dwarf.
