In the magical world of Valanthria, the Vaelym are Elves that have taken a blood oath, in order to protect their beloved realm of magic. The Vaelym are a unique and enigmatic sub-race that have managed to achieve a deep connection with the veil, the boundary that separates the physical and ethereal planes within the realm. These Elves have evolved and adapted themselves to harness the power of magic in two distinct ways.
Aetherite Vaelym: These Elves have achieved immortality through the use of elder magic and Aetherite shards. Aetherite is a rare and precious crystal found in Valanthria, known for its immense magical potential. By infusing their blood with Aetherite, these Elves have attained eternal life and abilities similar to vampires. However, unlike the traditional vampires of folklore, they do not possess an uncontrollable thirst for blood. They do have command over a powerful type of blood magic, however, and often wear warpaint in the form of blood dripping from their mouths, as they learned that this terrifies their enemies, mortal and immortal alike. Aetherite Vaelym are revered and respected for their wisdom and ancient knowledge, often holding esteemed positions in their society.
Mana Crystal Vaelym: This unique type of Vaelym is born from the union of an Elf and a mana crystal. Mana crystals are natural conduits for magical energy, and their essence is infused into the very being of these Elves from birth. As a result, Mana Crystal Vaelym are innately connected to the flow of magic itself. They possess extraordinary magical abilities and are considered among the most powerful spellcasters in Valanthria.
