Borealzodd, the Argent Heights (Bow-ree-al-zod)

Borealzodd, otherwise known as the Silver Dragonaught (Bow-ree-al-zod), the Argent Heights, the legendary floating mobile city of great and honourable silver dragons. Ruled by the Silver Regents, and filled not with a singular and great dragonaught, but several dividable and mobile dragonaughts that could reunite with one another. Known as the Sterling Enclaves. They preferred to remain isolated and away from the civilisations of other humanoids, but they would also send aid to those that would ask of it. These dragons trained to be noble warriors, and sought not power, but to use their own power to protect those they saw as innocent and unable to defend themselves. They reviled the chromatic dragons, and stayed away from their metallic brethren, preferring the company of humanoids.

VIRTUOUS CITY OF DRAGONS

The Silver Dragons of Borealzodd had long held the belief that living a moral life of good deeds, ensuring that one's actions cause no undeserved harm to other sentient beings - was the best way to live. However, they do not take an interventionist role in rooting out evil, as other gold or bronze dragons do, rather they will gladly oppose creatures that dare to commit evil acts or harm the innocent. Thus they live a noble, somewhat monastic and honourable life, devoting themselves to the virtues of kindness, charity, protection of the innocent. This lifestyle is reflected within the structure and people of their great city and their individual districts. They were known to be capable of building cities, shelters and protective sanctuaries from the clouds and the sky with their draconic magic, to those who they believed needed it. Originally, it was only the Silver Dragons that populated the cities and the Sterling Enclaves - but over the years, they grew companionship between many smaller humanoid races and devoted followers within Dragonborn and Kobolds. Each Silver Regent made friendships and companions between many different families and their descendants, and sought to cherish their friendships by inviting them to their Sterling Enclaves as permanent guests, living among others as equals. They came to share their same respect with other races and one another, the dragons often taking humanoid form and visiting the families for nights of merriment and celebration while not attending their hoards or personal affairs, mating or rearing offspring.

Demographics

  • 10% Silver Dragons
  • 5.6% Half-Dragons
  • 40.8% Dragonborn (Mostly Silver, Gold and Bronze)
  • 30% Other Humanoid Races (Humans, Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes, Elves)

Government

Ruled under a democratic-aristocracy, where the eldest dragons ruled under a code of honour and law under Venarion the draconic god of justice. None held a greater title than a Lord, acting mainly as collaborating counts and dukes, with noble houses of Dragonborn loyal to them. The kobolds did not retain any noble ranking but were highly prized within their caste-system, and were allowed to become honorary knights of Borealzodd.

Defences

The entire Dragonaught, once fully combined, were a series of mobile floating platforms that could bridge and connect with one another to create a series of pentagonal fortified walled districts of ice, stone and snow - each with their own vibrant towers. The Sterling Enclaves each were protected by a dense fog and blisteringly cold winds on the outsides of the settlement, appearing from the surface as a travelling blizzard with the shadows of a great monolithic beast glinting with sunlight reflecting from the ice structures.

History

Scholars cannot recall nor recover much of the history behind the ancient Dragonaught - now fractured and remains separated from one another after the Cataclysm. A city divided and gone into hiding since the end of the war between the Divines and the Diabolical Ones.

Architecture

The buildings were made through the ancient magics of the Silver Dragons, created from the very clouds themselves as it sailed through the air of the cold skies - other buildings were fashioned, masoned and created through the Silver Dragons icy breath, otherwise referred to as Permice. Some buildings were carved from marble and other stone, supported and fashioned in ancient styles. The style of buildings reflected the passage of time and other architecture styles of past civilisations - almost entire buildings such as ancient Yuan-Ti ziggurats, white-washed and made pure in draconic style; Elven towers, Gnomish burrows, dwarven holds... whomever the Dragons favoured in their time, the building styles reflected this.
