The Dragonborn, also known as the
Rex'Akon, are one of the oldest races of Aetheus. Long ago, as the other races were developing, the Rex'Akon built the largest most advanced civilisation on Aetheus before the Great Divine War. This civilisation collapsed millennia after the mythical war between the Dragons and the Giants of Mythic Ostoria, due to infighting, the schism between the Chromatic Order and the Metallic Authority, and the failure of their great technologies and Dragonaught citadels. Since then, the Rex'Akon today are those that have sifted through the ashes of their once-great empire.
They once worked in tandem and for the greatness of the dragons and their divine sires, but slowly, their worship was divided between their great servants and caused untold destruction and devastation to their societies - working to breed towards war, intrigue and the mutual destruction of their fellow brotherhoods. It was when they were cast from the skies during the Divine War, that they saw the folly of working with the gods, and so devoted themselves to a more spiritual and considerate outlook on their lives. Focusing more on peace, than achieving war with others. This path divided their groups and even those that were faithful to the two draconic gods, Venarion and Sincainea. When the Divine Gate was sealed, and the gods and dark ones left the world, the Dragonborn sought to help rebuild the lands broken by the Cataclysm and seek to hone the peace of the world. Teaching the errors of history and preserving the natural balance of the world, to make it a better one. Those that cling to the old ways belong with the ancient and decaying orders of the Dragonknights and their prominent enclaves. The last remaining power of the Blue Dragons are upheld by the
Azure Sultan in
Ozon'Siiari, and their sage sorcerers, preserving the power of the
Dragonmarks lost in the olden days.
The Rex'Akon today focus rather on the simple things in life, finding happiness through farming or their craft. Most Dragonborn are exceptionally old, as their race holds vestige over their dual lives. Those that take up adventuring are however usually very young, and time has yet to temper their hot heads. There is not much Rex'Akon youth, however, as they reproduce exceptionally slowly and mate for life.
Though they once fully believed in their Draconic gods, most now do not believe in them, but rather are considered to be spiritual in some way. The Rex'Akon "religion" is much like Zen Buddhism of our world, meaning that they tend to live a very contemplative life, and are often very slow to act as they must be sure in the decisions they make. The Dragonborn are the only race to truly understand the true nature of magic but refuse to share that information with anyone. In fact, their modern stance on the world is one of non-interference, seeing themselves as librarians and historians, simply cataloguing events.
Actually, your draconic heritage can manifests in the variety of traits that you do share with the other Dragonborn.
The Dragonborn walk proudly through a world that greets them with fearful incomprehension. Shaped by the dragons themselves, Dragonborn originally hatched from dragon eggs as a unique race, combining the best attributes of dragons and humanoids.
