Ent

Basic Information

Anatomy

Ents are very large, bipedal, tree-like creatures. They have a natural connection to Nature Magic.

Biological Traits

There are many different types of ents, each originating from a type of tree. These types are named after their tree ancestors, and share traits such as size, color, etc. with them.

Ecology and Habitats

Ents are rarely seen outside of forests.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Ents require two sources of sustenance. The first comes from their natural connection to magic. The second source is the same as any tree: water and photosynthesis.

Biological Cycle

In autumn, ents become quite lethargic. In winter, they enter a state that is similar to hibernation, save for the fact that they can be easily woken by a Hamadryad. While in this state, an ent's need for nutrition is significantly reduced. Unlike trees, their leaves do not fall off during these times, although they do change color.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Ents are typically servants to a Hamadryad. Among each other, older ents typically have higher social status.

Facial characteristics

Some ents have arrangments of leaves and/or moss that vaguely resemble hair.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Ents generally have average senses.

Civilization and Culture

History

Ents were originally created by Hamadryads to aid in guarding their forests.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
The coloration of an ent depends on the tree it is descended from. The leaves of deciduous ents change color in autumn, but do not fall off. Ents only lose their leaves when very close to death.
