Summer Guard

The Summer Guard is the Seelie King's personal standing army and the law enforcement in and around Ios Caillean.

Structure

The Summer Guard has three ranks of leadership:

• Captain of the Summer Guard (usually simply called Captain), the highest authority in the Guard, save for the King himself. The Captain is, in theory, of equal rank to the Knight-Commander of the The Knights of Summer in regard to military matters, but since Captain of the Summer Guard is not a title of nobility, is often treated as subordinate to the Knight-Commander.
• Lieutenant, the second-highest authority, each tasked with overseeing one district of Ios Caillean. Lieutenants also occasionally lead platoons of guards during larger-scale operations.
• Sergeant, the third-highest authority, each tasked with overseeing a squad of guards.

The hierarchy of the rank-and-file of the Guard is as follows:

• Guardsman, a regular member of the Guard.
• Rook, a junior member of the Guard who operates under the supervision of a Guardsman.

Public Agenda

The purpose of the Summer Guard is to protect the city of Ios Caillean, enforce the law, and occasionally, go on campaign during a war.
