Ellywaran territory

History

The ancient people of Ywaryn and other areas close by were a successful bunch. As many others in the region, they originate from a bunch of smaller tribes located at the south east shores of modern day Ywaryn.   After years of small wars and disagreements, three of the largest tribes (Elkyn Tribe, Aeen Tribe and Yttlinn Tribe) came to an agreement to merge together so they could be stronger - their knowledge, wisdom and techniques were now shared, and it made them the most powerful group of people in the area, the new tribe was named Ellywara, a mix of all the old names.

But why unionize?

Together we are stronger.
Being pecked on by the larger tribes from the north was too much. Many lives had been lost in the meaningless battles, and the three tribes had all lost some to the battles. Their leaders saw an opportunity to collaborate and work together as one to fight off the ones that had caused them pain throughout many years.

New leader

But someone had to be their new leader, as three leaders would be a mess, so a week-long competition was held with battles, to find the new leader.   After the brutal battles, with bloodshed and bruises, a winner was declared: Aske Hylldann - the toughest and strongest of them all! He was both calculated, strong, tactical and persevering.   And you bet Aske had plans for the people.

Plunder and conquer!

Aske was a fair ruler, and he knew how to keep the people of Ellywara positive and bloodthirsty. They wanted land, they wanted riches and most important of it all, they wanted revenge.   But Aske knew not to dwell too much in past happenings, and not to justify death because you want revenge. But he did want to make them afraid like he had been as a small boy when the raiders had come to their village.   Tactically and slowly, battles were fought and the Ellywaran territory expanded rapidly until the entire southern and eastern shore were Ellywara territory - this is when the raids began to slow down, and instead, they focused on the land they already had.   Improvements were made everywhere, agriculture, building, training soldiers and defence - the area was not just some weird patches of small villages anymore. The cities were fortified and the people were given jobs - woodworkers, stone carvers, soldiers, raiders and so on - the people and the country were flourishing.

Details

Time period

From around 6000 years ago to 5000 years ago (1258 years before Blue Lily Nebula appeared)   This was a time where the land was extremely fragmented, with many tribes, cultures, people and towns. A few bigger tribes did exist, that you definitely could call a country at this point.   The country is estimated to have lasted around 700-1000 years before it fell.

Capital

The largest city and therefore the designated capital was the city Yttuk, which still exist to this day, though it is now named after the people that once lived here, and is now called Ellyn - the modern day Ywaryn capital.

Towns and villages

It is believed that in the most successful era of the Ellywaran people, they had around 50 large cities and around 100 smaller villages and towns spread over the entire southern part of modern-day Ywaryn.   Many of the towns established in that time is still a town to this day, and some of them have ruins and others still have nice structures from that time incorporated into newer constructions

Architecture

With a growing society and lots of great minds, the Ellywaran began experimenting with building techniques; they wanted to show their rivals and enemies to stand in their shadow of astonishing monuments, and they wanted their people to be safe within the country.

Stone carving and the first evidence of stone moulding magic

One profession, in particular, gained a lot of popularity, as the tools and techniques evolved a lot around this time of change; stone carving and the art of shaping stone.   Stone bricks, large ornate pillars and small decorative pieces all made of hard cold stone transported from the mountains - a beautiful ash grey stone. Their techniques can clearly be seen in the old ruins, and how they evolved - some buildings were dome-shaped and built with curved stone blocks to make the curvature, while others were large structures with big pillars.   Only a few buildings survived the many years of decay, and most of them are found in Ellyn. Here stand parts of the old defensive wall, that protected the city all around its borders. Today, it is located in the middle of the city, and much of it has been torn down to make room for houses and other buildings. Though you can clearly follow the walls all the way through town - even one of the watchtowers still stands at the wall. A beautiful hexagon-shaped tower, small windows made for observation, and a place to stand at the top of the tower.   A beautiful plaza can be found in the centre of the city, with mosaic stones, some carved into shapes forming pictures of the people dancing and enjoying themselves. At this plaza, a beautiful building from that time can also be found, though it is missing its roof, and now stands like a museum itself. The building has beautiful pillars carved like tree trunks and detailed flooring with stone tiles carved like leaves.   Today, this building is a park, with grass and flowers, and instead of a roof, long pieces of cut wood is placed in a grid pattern, wrapped in vines growing around the building - a truly magical sight.
