The dark survives
The people from the dark times, the ones who made Roth'duns manipulating symbols, might still be creeping in the shadows.
Though the flames might be gone and the fire seems dead, embers from the lost fire might still lurk in the ashFrom a time with a much darker type of magic on the rise, the Roth'dun symbols and its human vessels ruled many parts of Aewyn. Formed from a seed of hatred and sprouting from the mouths of the jealous, the practice and therefore the language became widely spread. You wouldn't think that many people had that kind of darkness in them, but dark desires spread quickly to those who are easily manipulated. After the longest war in Aewynian history, the Battle of Daybreak made a change for the better, as the Dark Masters of Ruth'dun were finally overthrown and overpowered by the pure willpower of the good and kind Aewynians. Many good people were lost in the years that lead up to the final battle, but when the Darks Masters were finally caught and had to pay for their actions, it seemed as if the earth itself took a big sigh of relief. There was no way that these dark times should ever repeat again, and that is why no one was spared when the convictions began - most were executed and few were imprisoned for life. But it is a common belief that some of them successfully escaped and survived all those years - and that is certainly a possibility, the immense power of dark magic would definitely be able to keep a person alive for several centuries. Countless prophecies have been predicting the return of Dark Masters and their manipulating ways, and some even believe that there is proof of them being in the government and leading institutions around Aewyn, manipulating and pulling the strings. But one prophecy stands stronger than the others; once darkness, hatred and evil begin to fill the hearts of the people again, and unscary hatred is growing in society, a new war is on the brink. The dark will return again, and this time it'll try to manipulate all the high standing people first so the common folk won't stand a chance.
