Angel's Hex

Also known as Angel's Mark, or the Hex of Gods. While seemingly magical in origin, no curing spells or magic items have worked in curing the condition, including Wish.

Symptoms

The presence of painful red rash- and scale-like markings on one's back, in the same spot from where a pair of wings could grow. This appears at birth or can remain dormant until later in life, with other symptoms and conditions showing over time, usually as follows:

  • Mild to severe pain at the sight of the rash and scales, which become redder

  • Mild to severe fatigue

  • Gradual weakening of muscle and bone

  • Gradual loss of short-term memory

  • Eventual hardening of muscle into a matter similar to bone

  • Comatose-like state

  • Death
  • Treatment

There is no official treatment for Angel's Hex. All that can be done is an attempt to manage the pain and fatigue with magic, though this gets more difficult the more the condition sets in.

    Prognosis

With no cure, Angel's Hex will always result in death. This can vary from as little as a few days after birth, or towards the end of one's average lifespan for their race.

    Affected Groups

Anyone can be born with Angel's Hex. It has, however, regularly been seen in the Aedius bloodline among it's kings, though such a fact is kept under wraps from the general population.

    Prevention

Angel's Hex is inevitable for those unfortunate enough to be born with the condition.

    History

Angel's Hex was first confirmed in Erradil Aedius I, rumored to have been cast upon him by one of the other Gods shortly after becoming king, ultimately killing him instead of dying naturally or at war. Little is known about who said God or Goddess could be, as the only concrete information historians have is Aedius I being the first recorded case.

    Cultural Reception

With the rumor of this condition being caused by a scorned God, those who carry this condition could easily be met with contempt, given the sphere's close connection to the pantheon of Gods.
