Liquid Hydrogen Radiation Shielding

The LHRS system is a cheap but effective way to shield ships from cosmic radiation. It is an evolution of the earlier spaceship designs where the liquid fuel tanks were arranged around the crew area to block cosmic rays. The system protects the crew without costing energy, but also bears the risk of leaks or even ignition if the hydrogen reacts with oxygen.

Utility

The LHRS system is a series of pressure tanks with liquid hydrogen, which are distributed around the interior of the ship as close as possible to each other. The characteristic of hydrogen ensures that cosmic rays are blocked and the crew is mostly protected.
