Clifftop Towers

The southern edge of Clifftop ha dno wall and was open to the sky and the city below. However, airships that were sailing off had to sail btween a set of four massive, well-armed towers. The lower level of each tower hangs halfway over the edge of the cliff, and the wall on the side is open. On this platform were mounted large ballistae, which could be fired either at passing airships or into the city below.   The second level of each tower had a ring of fire cannons poking out of the windows circling it. The third level was an open, crenellated roof with a single huge catapult and plenty of space for archers. Each level was connected by spiral staircases and trap doors.   Extending up the north (or back) side of the towers were narrow extensions, wide enough for only a single Namegiver. The top of each tower contained a small room with large windows made of thick, clear crystal. While these made excellent observation areas, their primary purpose was for spellcasters to fling spells at invaders.   On the other side of Clifftop , similar towers wer ebuilt, though their lower levels were simply solid walls without the ballistae.   Though generally still structurally sound, today these towers are in a state of disrepair. Broken doors and seige engines that would require too much repair work to become operational, shattered merlons and the like. The fire cannons are still usable but are heavier than more modern fire canons and are bult in place, attached firmly to their pivots.   Today, the towers are infested with all manner of vermin as well as bats, krilworms and the rare shadowmant.
