Emperor Palpatine served as the last Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic and (following his overthrow of the Jedi and the existing government) now serves as the first Emperor of the Galactic Empire. He has impacted the galaxy perhaps more than any other single individual in history, bringing an end to the Republic that had stood for over 25,000 years. As Emperor, Palpatine effectively wields absolute control over the entire galaxy and virtually everyone who lives within it. During his tenure, he has built one of the most powerful military forces the galaxy has ever seen and ruled unopposed for nearly two decades.
