Frefferth

A heroic knight and ardent Arodenite, astride his valiant steed Polora, whose tales and triumphs are honored in countless Kortosian legends and tall tales of their derring-do. In the stories, Frefferth died defending a village from marauders, sacrificing himself for those he protected. In reality, he was struck down by a lowly bandit's arrow, piercing his neck, and unceremoniously ending his valorous life. His body was interned in the Prospecti Catacombs, but his soul was wrought with grief upon his untimely death, rotting his soul and converting him into a dullahan and his noble steed into a nightmare. A magical chain was finally affixed around the sword of his statue, peacebonding his spirit into dormant complacency, until a lone Skinsaw Cultist saw fit to remove it, releasing his bloodthirsty spirit into the catacombs.

Frefferth was defeated once by the Edgewatch heroes and the magic chain recovered and repaired, putting his spirit to rest, for the time being. In his final moments, Frefferth warned Artorius and his compatriots about the randomness of life and battle, never knowing which fight would be their last. He gifted his purified longsword, Alietta, to Artorius, the emblem of Ardoen's winged eye burning away in the process to the winged symbol of Ragathiel.
