Session 3 - Pagodas and Pitfalls
General Summary
With lunch resolved, the agents decide to split up for the remainder of the evening, to each attend to their own wants or duties. Exley isolates himself to study at Edgewatch headquarters and is introduced to members of the forensics team and the watch's eccentric quartermaster. Artorius makes his way to additional training at the Vermillion Chapel, which will hopefully accept him soon as a low templar to the military style he has been striving to join, the Sixth Wing Bulwark. Abigail submits herself to charity work training as a medic and hospitiler at the Temple of the Shining Star where she performs admirably, allowing her to bask in the radiance of the altar of the Dawnflower at sunset. No-one is quite sure where Feragni went that evening or what he spent his hours doing. Cara wandered the Radiant Festival, soaking in everything that it had to offer and people watching the whole time. She marveled at the complexities of the Heroes' Fountain and then made her way to the Stockyard where she encountered a collection of creatures from all over Golarion that put the Menagerie to shame.
The following morning, four of the five cadets arrive early as requested, Feragni nowhere in sight. They are given an early assignment by Sergeant Ollo to head to the Dragonfly Pagoda as soon as possible. It turns out that the work-in-progress site is in the middle of a pair of overlapping problems; a labor dispute with the construction crews and the Minkaian delegation overseeing the project that has led to the kobold night shift to take hostages of the workers inside, holing themselves inside the construction project. The cadets make their way inside, Feragni arriving just as everyone is getting their footing on the Pagoda's interior and knocking out the guards.
Things go south quickly in the core of the Pagoda's dangerously fragile construction, attacked by another kobold worker mounted on a venomous hunting spider. Artorius nearly loses his life to the creature's powerful venom, but the cadets pull themselves to safety to recover in a finished side room. There, they discover the bolt-ridden bodies of several non-kobold workers and the knowledge that there are other kobolds in nearby rooms that are aware of the cadets' presence.
